MADISON, WISCONSINCalling Donald Trump's recent oscillations on abortion "bizarre," Ted Cruz laid out his own view on abortion in a Fox News town hall the day before Wisconsin's primary.
Over the past week, Donald Trump has oscillated between advocating "punishments" for mothers seeking abortions, and saying abortion should be kept legal. Cruz knocked Trump's "bizarre" statements. "It showed that he has not considered seriously this issue."
A self-described pro-choice moderate voter asked Cruz if his presidency would lead to outlawing abortion. "We should protect all life," Cruz said, arguing for the issue to be settled through the democratic process, as opposed to the current situation where federal courts have taken abortion largely out of the hands of elected legislators.
Roe v. Wade is not settled law, Cruz told Fox News' Megyn Kelly, but is a "classic case of judicial activism." Undoing Roe would return abortion to elected legislators and the state. In that case, Cruz said Monday, pro-lifers would need to persuade the country to join them in passing laws to protect the unborn.
As President, Cruz said, he would reinstitute the Mexico City agreement, which curbs U.S. foreign aide to overseas groups aborting babies or counseling abortion.
Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked Cruz on abortion in the case of rape, where most Americans are at odds with the pro-life position. After touting his prosecution of rapists, Cruz said, "as horrible as that crime is, I don't believe it's the child's fault."
Of Trump's call for punishing mothers seeking abortions, Cruz said: "These comments are the comments of a liberal who is saying what he thinks conservatives want to hear."
Incredible accomplishments in business? Let’s see, was that taking a huge inheritance and not increasing it at all even though Trump hired illegals, was in bed with the mob and contributed to democrats he thought could help him.
And along the way, several bankruptcies and killing several businesses
His beautiful wives? You mean the imported hotties Donald got by sponsoring beauty pageants to shop at... the women who wouldn’t give him a second look if he was clerking at Wal-Mart? The women he doesn’t care about but regards as trophies to his non-existent manhood?
You mean his deep concern about adding the presidency to his list of trophies to try and bolster his pathetically lacking self esteem? That deep concern?
You’re worshipping a false god who will never be president.
Never.
Trump is a sick combination of low self-esteem and narcissism.
He has to prove his worth by bedding hot women. He even sponsored beauty contests to find them.
Melania should be flattered. She is 20 years older than that photo and as soon as she gets a wrinkle or two, Trump will be looking at her through his rear view mirror.
She will be lucky to get rid of him. You can tell she’s afraid of him and he does not love her.
He does not know what it is to love a woman; to be friends and kindred spirits with a woman; they are simply sex objects and trophies to him.
He is a pig of a barely human being and all the little trumpers are beginning to resemble him.
It is sad.
As long as the Supreme Court makes our laws and until we get more conservatives on the court, abortion is legal.
So, all the fake talk of punishing woman was just Trump’s lame attempt to seem more pro-life.
And why are you still defending Donald’s stance when he himself has now changed it and said he was wrong.
Keep up. You have to know what Donald said today and not look at yesterday.
LOL. Me, too. I come here mainly to support the few, the proud, the Cruz supporters who risk dumb insults and flaming by inferior minds in order to post.
Then I have to go for a walk with Smitty or watch British tv shows to restore my peace of mind.
I keep resolving not to enter this cesspool and yet I do.
As long as 2nd Division Vet and Conservative Joy fight, I will try to help.
And, I saw a rainbow last night walking down a gorgeous road in Maui so ....
I know. I’ve read about it and why Cruz did what he did on the bill.
And yet, and yet, dummies here keep bringing it up as though it was something evil he did.
Trumpers really know about as much about reality as Trump does.
I haven’t been talking about Trump, I’ve been talking about Cruz. Like Cruz, you deflect.
I don’t blame you for talking about Cruz.
Insulting and lying about Cruz are all you people have left.
You can’t talk about Trump... he’s an embarrassment.
Did I say you blamed me for talking about Cruz? No, I didn’t.
What are you talking about?
You didnt read where he said education and health care should be handled by the feds.
Guess you missed that one.

No your bought the Cruzadian koolaid. Donald Trump tells you what he is going to do. He doesn’t talk conservative theory. Conservative theory is what has gotten us to where we are.
He is going to move control of education back to the states. Since the Feds have taken over education, it is a function of the Feds to give it back to the states. Same for health care, but in this case it is to give it back to the people.
As has been said, if the GOPee had worked this hard against Obama, we would be in much better shape!
In your mind criticism of Cruz equals support for Trump. You assume.
Yes, he is the man.
Trump is being criticized because he points out correctly that the supreme court's ruling on abortion is considered to be the law and it will not be changed until we have both a president and a congress who has the guts to actually write law to correct the matter.
Any executive order on abortion will be appealed to the court and the court will rule it to be unconstitutional.
So being against abortion is not the same as having the power to by yourself stop it.
Better to vote for the man who has a history of getting things done than to vote for a man who spends all of his energy talking about getting things done.
So far NONE of these threads have even tried to defend Trump on his abortion flip flop. They have nothing. How can they vote for such a liar and fabricator?
Love the post.
Not the VAT he wants for the United States. That would be a disaster. He says 19 cents to the dollar on all goods and services, but it will be 30 in a few years.
I just don’t know. None, I don’t think.
Millions of more votes for Trump don’t agree.
“Millions of more votes for Trump dont agree.”
Huh?
Millions more don’t think Trump is bizarre.
My post doesn't mention Donald's stance.
My post does make the point that opposing abortion on moral grounds must include pursuing justice, or else it abandons its moral grounds. It's a valid point whether Trump agrees with it or not.
`Cruz’s consistent pro-life stand’
Yeah, we bought that bill of goods once from the GOP-e, and gave them Congress & the power of the purse—and they’re still funding the Planned Parenthood ghouls.
They don’t even have the balls to take Obama’s US Treasury credit card away.
So they’ve been real balls of fire, like their boy will be: all talk.
“Millions of more votes for Trump dont agree.”
I’m sorry, i don’t understand your reference. Was this meant to reply to something I said? If so, the point is eluding me.
