Why are they picking on nutritious burgers that have healthy lettuce, tomatoes, and onions? Athletes need fat and protein and carbs from the meat, bread, and cheese. We just need to walk, run, bicycle, box, and swim a bit more.

BINGO!
Ever hear of THE ALL TIME Olympic gold champ Michael Phelps “eating’ regimen? It’s like a frat house party. Full of pizzas, burgers, fries etc. He BURNS the carbs and the calories. It’s damn simple. It’s not the burgers which makes you fat. It’s your lifestyle that makes you fat.
Which reminds me of a classic episode from Married with Children:
PEG BUNDY; “Al, does this dress make me fat?”
AL BUNDY” “no peg, it’s the fat which makes you look fat”
If they had it their way, we’d be eating kale burgers while they eat real hamburgers. All those F & D grades they gave the burgers are so bogus.
Yes. And they're also picking on ones with good portions of cheese and also those that have given up transfats.
As a painless budget-cutting move, I've gotten rather good about food choices. Some of the burgers they graded D or even F are actually good bargains when you consider the amount of food provided. You could take one of those 1000+ calorie burgers and get two meals out of it (meat and cheese; salad and bread). Combine that with a healthy breakfast (fruit, cereal, milk or fruit sausage/egg/potato for example) and you've got a healthy day of eating for about $6.
