Since this news story made the sidebar here on FR, I decided to provide some context to the remarks that have garnered so much interest.
I just view my DVR tape of the Jimmy Kimmel Show last night. Just prior to Senator Cruz coming on was a segment on cool April Fools jokes that could be played on friends.
One of the jokes was to duct tape a Freddie Kruger action figure to someone's rear view camera. The guy demonstrating also said that a picture could be used as well. He held up a picture of Donald Trump.
Cruz was just continuing the joke by referencing that previous segment.
Meanwhile, irresponsible "journalists" are ignorantly or deliberately reporting this joke out of context as being a serious comment. Typical.
If she was, she wasn’t wearing one of Trump’s ties made in China.
The stabbing never stops.
Yeah, it’s “real cool” and funny to joke about killing a presidential candidate...
A million laughs, right???
Actually, I’m doing what the other candidates and the media have done with Trump all along.
They misrepresent his comments as if their misrepresentation is what he really meant or said.
So, in terms of Cruz’s ‘summations’ of Trump’s comments, by that same standard, it is fair to say that Cruz suggested he’d prefer Trump dead.
I really don’t expect a true believer to see that, though.
Or that he’d like to kill him...be behind the wheel and run him over with an automobile.
More honest than you, you lyin’ scummy Hillary supporter.
Kimmel’s audience - Leftists who hate Trump and thus support Cruz
Cruz’s audience - “Conservatives” who hate Trump and thus support Leftists
I bet you thought it was “real cool” when Lindsey Graham joked about killing Sen. Cruz.
First of all, I wouldn’t trust Ted not to run over Trump. Secondly even if he was joking, about time his words came back on him. They come back on Trump every single day.
Maybe Secret Service should look into this.
It is for the remaining Cruz people.
Because with zero exceptions that is who they are and that is what they are.
I will let Donald speak for himself. I can say I have no intention of shooting anybody in this campaign.
That was an April Fools Day thing in Cruz’s office. This desperation to smear has gotten ridiculous. Folks have tried to make a big deal of the moniker “Daddy Cruz” which started when Cruz was defending his daughters from the Washington Post cartoon ridiculing them.
I realize that many Trump supporters have a tabloid mentality that makes it difficult for them not to assign every thing to the gutter, but this crap has just gotten bizarre.
Don’t bother. Trump’s followers are convinced this is a vile threat and not what it was - a dumb joke from a guy who isn’t nearly as funny as he thinks. Meanwhile their guy calls for violence against those who oppose him and lies for a campaign manager caught on video committing a violent crime.
“I sure dont need a hankie. It was very funny and I dont care how it is reported. “
Yeah, ok.
We get it Trump makes a joke = “OMG I can’t believe this dangerous nut made a joke about killing someone!!!!!!”
Cruz does it = “ that was a very funny joke. Such wit can only come from a great man like Cruz. I can’t believe people would take a joke of running over someone seriously! Such rubes!”
Go make that joke about Hillary and see how many of your media friends chuckle along with you.

Nope...Joking about murder isn’t “cool” at all...No matter who...
Why would you make such a stupid comment????
Why don’t you call them so they can laugh at you like we do.
Not a single person in that whole office ever posted a picture or comment or anything at the time or since of the supposed prank everyone was in on.
Where are their matching tats? Or does only the bottom beyatch get one?
In the context of the previous guest’s segment, it was appropriate. No one knowing the context took it seriously. It was a joke and they took it that way.
Kimmel also talked about Lindsey Graham’s comments about murdering Cruz on the Senate floor. Everybody laughed about that, too, including Cruz.
I would suggest all you Trump supporters who felt this was a threat, to call the Burbank Police Department and press charges.
Lindsey Graham made two jokes about killing Ted Cruz, and Ted uses them in his stump speech and at AIPAC.
Politicians and their supporters need to have a little thicker skin.
“... a campaign manager caught on video committing a violent crime...”
Violent?????? ROFLMAO!!!!!
You don’t have a clue what violence is, evidently.....
