In the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State, the U.S. military is notably short on soldiers, but apparently not on generals. There are at least 12 U.S. generals in Iraq, a stunningly high number for a war that, if you believe the White House talking points, doesnt involve American troops in combat. And that number is, if anything, a conservative estimate, not taking into account the flag officers running the U.S. air war, the admirals helping wage the war from the sea, or their superiors back at the Pentagon.

WTF? “Ticket punching”?
Another problem resulting from the crappy Obama economy.
These guys can’t approach their salary/perks in civilian employment so they won’t retire....
21 generals? That’s more brass than Obama has ever fired at his Islamonazi comrades including Isis hezbellah plo pa Iran Hamas alquaida or the Muslim brotherhood. Combined.
Maybe this was a unannounced golf tournament?
Yep. Ticket punching. We’ve got more generals per troop than ever at any time. We’ve got officers with no reports at all, or with a handful of reports. Ever seen a Lt. Col with a staff of 6? The Air Force is loaded with them.
“Maybe this was a unannounced golf tournament?”
lol. Nice!
That said, I know that the moment Resident Obama acknowledges anything like war with ISIL the Pentagon brass will go whole hog and get the US ass-deep in warriors and support on the scene.
Once when I was young I believed in "military discipline". After watching the brass in the Pentagon I know DoD is the least disciplined of the oversized executive branches.
Just enough to make two rifle squads! Boots and stars on the ground...
I remember when the words from the "Platoon Leaders Handbook" were gospel, particularly "everything that my unit does or fails to do is my responsibility."
I caught hell when I flunked my first platoon ARTEP. Didn't matter that I was assigned that platoon the day the ARTEP began. Had the powers that be had a freakin' brain, they would have tested me with my original platoon, one that I had been in charge of for four months.
But noooo, they couldn't do that. After a couple of weeks of taking crap, I told my BC, "ok, I get it. Now let me do my job and stay the hell out of my way." Hate to say it, but I was a PITA throughout the remainder of my 8 years in the Army. I would take 3 more platoons successfully through their ARTEPs, brought back my battery from the brink (as XO) when the BC went daft (or schizoid, take your pick), was Battalion S-4 as a 1LT, etc.
I was fried on OERs by superiors that were micromanagers, did great with superiors that expected imagination and independence from their subordinates.
Thanks for your service, apologies for the rant. Most of the Sam Damons are gone (not that I was one), replaced by Courtney Massengales.
I am hoping there is a typo somewhere in here..
Should be 1 four star above the Mid-East..
Two 2 stars for each sector
One 1 star for the area (or up to three areas)

Don’t they have any bathrooms to make ‘transgender’? I wouldn’t trust any of the sashaying silk princes oblahblah has put up there.
Half the generals are leading the US Islamic Terrorist Battalions. Called Syrian Rebels by McCain and his thugs.
