As the father of three daughters, I reserved the right to interview their dates. . . For the next few hours, she would be affected by his ability to drive a car, avoid the bad crowds and stay sober. I wanted to know if he could do it. I wanted to know if he was decent.
This was my word: decent. Would he treat my daughter with kindness and respect? Could he be trusted to bring her home on time? In his language, actions and decisions, would he be a decent guy?
Decency mattered to me as a dad, and decency matters to Americans. We take note of the person who pays their debts. . . When the husband honors his wedding vows, when the teacher makes time for the struggling student, when the employee refuses to gossip about her co-worker, when the losing team congratulates the winning team, we can characterize their behavior as decent.
We appreciate decency. We applaud decency. We teach decency. We seek to develop decency.
So why isnt decency doing better in the presidential race?
The leading Republican candidate to be the next leader of the free world would not pass my decency interview.
I dont know Mr. Trump. But Ive been chagrined at his antics. He ridiculed a war hero. He made a mockery of a reporters menstrual cycle. He made fun of a disabled reporter. . . He routinely calls people stupid and dummy.
Such insensitivities wouldnt be acceptable even for a middle school student body election. But for the Oval Office? And to do so while brandishing a Bible and boasting of his Christian faith?

I only know of one General Eisenhower in WWII. If there were others, I don't know about it.
More on point, I believe the charge by Canadian novelist James Bacque in his book “Other Losses” were that Eisenhower and his staff conducted a campaign of genocide resulting in the deaths of about a million German POW’s (after the war), not tens of thousands.
I have not read Bacque’s book, in part, because his scholarship is generally in doubt. However, because of your findings that General Eisenhower acted “in direct violation of the Geneva Convention”, I may have to reconsider.
First, I'll wait to see if Donald Trump issues a secular fatwa declaring that General Eisenhower is no hero.
Yeah. I see your POINT .
But which wife are you talking about??
So you’re saying it never happened? That’s your position?
It is not like I don't want to believe everything you have said here on the Internet, I'd just like to get independent verification from Trump that General Eisenhower did, in fact, commit genocide resulting in the murder of one million German POW’s.
Again, from Trump?
WTF are you talking about?
You find this subject funny?
The one that had a breakdown because of his sleazy indiscretions. He makes slick Willie seem like an amateur.
“Again, from Trump?”
I have been told Trump is the only person we can trust to tell the truth.
And, Trump-the-history-teacher does seem to have facts that no one else has ever heard.
I went to the source you recommended, “The Journal of History.”
Among the articles available on the site are those entitled:
“Held in a Psychiatric Ward & called delusional for saying 9/11 was an inside job”
“NASA flight director confirms 9/11 aircraft speed as the elephant in the room”
“BP crop dusting U.S. population under the cover of night”
“Iraq war for Zionism and/or for world conquest”
And my favorite - “Cancer Cure Asparagus — who knew?”
Oh! Sure.
Not really.
Bye.
Bumping this because of the new article regarding Beth Moore and Max Lucado.
Hillary is so fetid and putrid she can’t rish high enough out of the cesspool to be considered for the decency test.
Don't ask for my help when they shut down your house, your speech, your business.
