Am taking a travel vacation to visit friends up and down the Eastern seaboard. Any tips on what to avoid and not to avoid? Haven't been down that way in years.
Family member flew with the Wright brothers.
That is spectacular
I was thinking more blue ridge or toccoa
Where does highway 301 go to and why must I avoid it?
The museum was moved to Ft. Lee, VA along with the US Army Ordnance School.
One cannot get past Mass without giving it up.
I got a camera speeding ticket in MD. They had a box set up on the highway right at a point after I sat in bumper-to-bumper traffic for three hours in construction just north of Baltimore. Right at the point where traffic frees up and you get back to speed.
Scum.
Several of the worst speed traps in the world are on 301.
Avoid the George Washington Bridge ... and every square inch of Connecticut.
I once wandered into DC’s hood on a lark with my Dad back in Reagan’s day. Looked like something out of the Third World. Needless to say made our way back without incident to the DC all the tourists frequent. No problems there.
Alexandria, VA next door is lovely. Word of advice: don’t visit there in the middle of summer. Its like a sauna and the heat is debilitating well into the night. Even an air-conditioned hotel room offers scant relief.
I will look and see more about it.
Go to Charleston SC
Stay off I-95. It runs through all the big cities and is congested for much of the day for long stretches from Boston all the way down to Richmond.
If you’re in PA, try eating scrapple. Just don’t ask what’s in it.
I have to tout Virginia: Mt Vernon in Alexandria, Montpelier in Orange, Monticello in Charlottesville - also the Skyline Drive...
When headed "down" the coast keep the ocean on your left, when headed "up" the coast keep it on your right.
After you cross the Mason Dixon line headed South grits are not really optional and the further South one goes the more they become mandatory (Hush Puppies too)
Also Sweet Tea is served in the South rather than Iced Tea. (No, they are not the same thing)
Good to know, what major cities are on that route? Anyplace anyone would want to go.
I have been caught by camera, airplane, motorcycle, car and God knows what else.
I have been fairly good over the past twenty years.
when I was young I was usually let go because I was cute, now, because I am old and cute?
Yes make sure to stock up on your fireworks
Since you list Maine as your homestate, I’m assuming you’re
traveling south along the Atlantic coast. So how far south
are you traveling?
my last living blood relative is in CT and I am going to the monastery to visit him.
Don’t get caught speeding in North Carolina. They can impound your car if your 10 mph or more over the limit.
