In a Tuesday night special about Republican Donald Trump invigorating first-time voters, PBS NewsHour profiled a woman volunteering for the campaign who had prominently visible tattoos of widely recognized white power symbols.
In the segment, which was first flagged by Gawker, PBS profiles Grace Tilly, who is shown making calls at a Trump campaign phone bank in North Carolina.
This is my first time voting, Tilly tells the camera. Being 33, thats kind of crazy, but it says a lot.
While Tilly makes a call, her tattoo of a symbol that Gawker identified as a Celtic Cross is easily visible on her right hand.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, the Celtic Cross is used by neo-Nazis, members of the Ku Klux Klan, and virtually every other type of white supremacist. The symbol is also used in the logo for Stormfront, an online hub for white supremacists.
Gawker also identified the tattoo on Tillys other hand as the number 88 which, according to the ADL, is white supremacist shorthand for Heil Hitler.
PBS made no mention of the symbols in the story, Gawker said.
A TPM request for comment from PBS NewsHour was not immediately returned Wednesday afternoon.
You can watch a clip of the segment over at Gawker.
Maybe sometimes a Celtic Cross is just a Celtic Cross.
If a Celtic cross tattoo is a sign of being in some far right wing nut so group you better tell my Irish friends and Scottish brethren
Stupidest equation I have ever heard
Also used by a lot of folks I know who are of SCOTUS decent
So?
Do they have "heil Hitler" tattoos?
The Trump campaign is attracting these folks. That's just reality. If they don't want to be stained by it they need scrub people like that out. How hard can it be to see? She's advertising white supremecy for crying out loud.
I think that falls under the Steal category.
I have a Celtic Cross in my back yard because am a Christan and have Scotish ancestry. This is STUPID.
88, not so much...
She doesn’t look Chinese, though . . . .
The Celtic cross is a stretch. The 88 though, saw that in a prison documentory. Of course, she might have been born in 88. Dumb article is dumb.
The 88 link to Nazi beliefs is real, and it is a primary reason for 88 tattoos, but not the only reason for one. As for the Celtic Cross, the white supremacists meaning is one of many meanings, and not the most prominent (that would be Christianity).
I don’t hold it against Trump that at least one and probably several among his millions of supporters may be a white supremacist. I also don’t hold it against Bernie that 99% of his supporters are socialists and communists, or against Hillary that 100% of her supporters approve of tyranny.
Man... Y’all have to go anti-Cruz everywhere. Talk about TDS. I guess trump fangirl just can’t help herself.
Does your hubby get mad when you call him Donald?

I can’t seem to remember the media going around and interviewing the Obama campaign workers who had Che Quevara posters on the wall.
Well to begin with, that’s none of your business, and you can take your cyber bullying somewhere else, it doesn’t bother me, remember you have an ISP #...
Jeez. You wanna see hate just visit that website.
Never saw any comment on the Che Guevera flags in the Obama campaign offices, nor any questioning of his support by the Black Panthers, CPUSA, Farrakhan etc.
“Does your hubby get mad when you call him Donald?”
LOL!
Sorry, that there is funny, I don’t care who you are.
5.56mm
Never will either
Diversity, She has a lot of ink. She didn’t vote for obama or mccain. Not much else to it. What the media conjectures comes across as pathetic.
