SeaWorld announced on Thursday it would ends its killer whale breeding program, and those currently at its parks would be the last. The Orlando-based theme park has faced dwindling attendance and years of criticism over its treatment of the captive marine mammals as well as pressure from animal rights activists to end public exhibition of killer whales altogether. SeaWorld, which operates parks in San Diego, Orlando and San Antonio, said in November it would replace its signature 'Shamu' killer whale shows in San Diego with displays focused on conservation.

Not good news for the future of killer whales.
And that will finish off Sea World.
I bet the real estate Sea World sits on in Mission Bay SD is worth a bundle. Better off closing the park and re-developing it.
The hair-on-fire leftists score another victory.
Boy, THAT will draw a crowd. /sarc
Interesting that pre-born humans rank much lower on the SJW scale than some fat sea mammals.
> displays focused on conservation.
Oooh! That sounds exciting. Hope they have enough room for all the crowds!
And to think, fifty five years ago the TV show SEA HUNT with Lloyd Bridges, suggested that Killer Whales should be all wiped off the planet.
Some woman’s husband got eaten by a Killer Whale. Bridges later managed to kill it with an explosive headed spear or whale gun.
Not an “animal rights” fanatic; but it would be OK with me
for animals to be left alone in the wild, the environment
where they belong. Have visited zoos all my life; but
seeing big cats caged & becoming mentally unbalanced by
the confinement is sad to me.
"In 2016, SeaWorld admitted that it had been sending its employees to pose as activists to spy on animal rights organization PETA. Following an investigation by an outside law firm, SeaWorld's Board of Directors directed management to end the practice."
I’ll bet the whales rather than dying allegedly because of captivity, will now die of boredom.
They said they had stopped capturing the animals in the wild 30 years ago.
I don't really understand why captive breeding was considered wrong. I doubt the killer whales objected to it. Who's going to break the news to the male killer whales?
Yeah, I'd pay money to see that. /s
They just announced they are going out of business.
Keeping a killer whale in a tank is like keeping a horse in a 20’ x 20’ stall its entire life. There is nothing conservative about keeping animals unnaturally confined.
Stuffed game is sufficient and between videos and books, there's plenty to see.
Imagine not being allowed out of your house.
In the end, it's all about money and breeding...
...falling on the heals of B&B Circus stopping its Elephant Acts.
Well, we'll have those memories and videos.
We only went to Sea World ONLY because of the killer whales. The word killer’ was nothing to us violence disensitized kids back then.
That’s right we had the good stuff live.
My grandkid’s kids will only see in in virtual reality glasses.
I don’t have much use for Sea World. Whale watching in the ocean was much more fun for me than the Sea World show.
I don’t care for most zoos in our country either. The National Zoo in DC is in terrible condition and should be shut down.
