Best live album ever?
For me and in this order;
The Kinks "One for the road"
Deep Purple "Made in Japan"
I'm looking for more.
Even their album covers are legendary classics.
I think it’s Janice Joplin’s “Cheap Thrills”, if not John Mayall’s “Turning Point”, or maybe Tom Waits’ “Nighthawks at the Diner”. Those are the best live albums I know.
Little Feat and “Root boy Slim”
Rush, 2112 Live in St. Louis, 1980

Their “Clockwork Angels” album and tour was great I thought. A bit different, but RUSH usually is.
“Caravan” live from 2013 DVD

I agree!
Remember on “Like a Rolling Stone,” Hendrix says in the middle, “Yes I know I missed a verse, don’t worry.”
And he sang “you got no cigarettes to conceal” instead of “you got no secrets to conceal.”
Otis was dynamite.
I had the pleasure of attending a show on that tour.
Fantastic!!
The Allman Brothers Band, At Fillmore East

May as well include the Eat a Peach also since it continues where Whipping Post ended.
I would add Waiting for Columbus by Little Feat.
Grateful Dead Fillmore 1969
Grateful Deal WInterland 9-9-73- 9-11-73
Best kept secret in the history of RocknRoll (lack of marketing by Metromedia):
“Gypsy” double album

Johnny Cash Live from Folsom Prison
According to my play history, the answer is Supertramp Paris.
Which kind of surprised me, having such a massive collection of live albums.
Oops! That wasn’t “live”. Glad I posted it, though.
By the way - great thread!
Hendrix Band of Gypsies
Especially “Machine Gun,” played at midnight on Jan. 31, 1969 ...at the Fillmore West. Probably the most incredible guitar moment of Jimi’s career. ...or anyone’s.

Thought Band of Gypsies was recorded at the Fillmore East?
Jethro Tull Live at the Isle of Wight
You’re right — my mistake.
Cheap Trick Live at Budhokan.
Blue Oyster Cult some Enchanted Evening
Oh, boy!
I wonder if “The Last Waltz” by The Band would be considered in this category??
