Question to Cruz Supporters (Vanity)
self | 3/11/16 | tatown

An honest question to all Cruz supporters that try to describe Trump as a democrat/liberal. If you believe that Trump really is a democrat, and Cruz can't beat him in the GOP primaries, how in the heck do you expect him to win in the general against a real democrat?

If Cruz pulls it out I’d support him, warts and all. If it’s Rufio or Rmoney, I’d support Trump third party.

I am a Cruz supporter, and I believe that Trump is a democrat—a Truman democrat.

It is why he will win the general election if he is nominated: he will get the votes of Americans who can’t stand what has happened to the Democrat Party since George McGovern to today, and who despise Hillary (who reminds women of their mother-in-law and men of their ex), but would never ever ever ever ever vote for a Rich Republican Who Doesn’t Care About the Little Guy.

The absurdity of the present situation is that Trump, who is both rich and has spent his life not caring about the Little Guy, has been able to parlay his brand into being the one person on the debate stage who isn’t a Rich Republican, and who Cares About the Little Guy.

Cruz’s brand is the man who cares about the Constitution, Rubio’s is the man who was (supposed to be) the gateway to the Conservative Future, and Kasich’s is What Republicans Used to Be Before the Rich Republicans took over. Cruz’s brand is selling this year, but it is playing Wendy’s (”where’s the beef!”) to Trump’s Golden Arches; the others might as well be out of business.

Let’s say Trump wins out and gets the nomination and offers Cruz the VP spot and Cruz accepts. Is Trump still a Democrat?

Funny how Real World election results conflict with such negative polls. Oh and please how do they show Clinton in them? Oh yeah lets talk unfavorable.

Cruz easily defeats Trump head-to-head 54-41 percent.

...and a bigger majority of republicans have been rejecting Cruz.

That's where you're wrong. The starting point this whole primary season is Trump vs. Somebody Else. The Somebody Else voters having been choosing among the many options. That has splintered the anti-Trump vote, which is the majority. And so Donny has snuck through with some pluralities in some states.

Many Cruz supporters think Trump = Clinton! If Cruz can’t beat Trump (ie Clinton) in a GOP primary then how does he beat the real Clinton in the general?

If you don’t understand that, then Cruz may have been referring to you yesterday when he brought up ‘dumb’ supporters.

About 75% of Rubio supporters do in fact go solidly to Cruz, some go off somewhere and sulk, and maybe 10% go to Trump on a very good day.

As a Trump supporter, I would like to say that your question doesn’t make a damn bit of sense.

That's certainly right! Enough with the us-vs-them...whoever wins the nomination I will support; right now it looks like it will be the Donald...whom I will wholeheartedly support, although I am a Cruz supporter. We need to hang together, else we will certainly hang separately!

IMO Trump says he is a conservative but he is more like a center left Republican. Trump is a Nationalist through and through. That is OK and might be enough to win the election. He is gonna build a wall and make Mexico pay for it. He loves America too. I just don’t know how enthused I am to vote for him. I will, but not happily.

Trump does have a ceiling with the voting public

Kind of a silly statement. That line has been said since the beginning of his candidacy and was said about Ronald Reagan as well.

Trump's ceiling was once 5%.
Then 10%
Then 20%.
Then 30%
Now it's 40%.
I find that an encouraging trajectory on any graph.

Cruz has been outperforming the polls in Real World election results.

Personally, I think even Trump beats Hillary unless he does something stupid like tells someone to punch somebody and they do that.

Except he didn’t use logic, he used false logic. Cruz is running against Trump, Rubio and Kasich, not just Trump. You might as well ask if he can beat Clinton why can’t Trump get 50% of the vote against such a scattered field? Same difference.

The Neil Bush issue is not a big deal to run of the mill citizens. It won’t have an impact other than hopefully raise more money.

No he was performing badly until the Bush Machine got behind him. Thats the Only reason hes up. He has their staff and money and Fox pushing him. That does not translate to him doing anything more then getting a rino nominated in a brokered convention.

It is clear Trump doesn't know what he is and it is clear his followers have been duped into thinking he is conservative.

* JULY 1987: Trump registers for the first time from his Fifth Avenue penthouse. The real estate developer, 41 at the time, reports having previously been registered from his boyhood home in Queens (though his prior party affiliation is unclear). Trump enrolls as a REPUBLICAN.

* OCTOBER 1999: Trump dumps the GOP and enrolls as a member of the INDEPENDENCE PARTY.

* AUGUST 2001: Trump enrolls as a DEMOCRAT.

* SEPTEMBER 2009: After eight years as a Democrat, Trump returns to the REPUBLICAN PARTY.

* DECEMBER 2011: Trump lasts two years before he again abandons the party of Ronald Reagan. He eschews the GOP in favor of siding with no party. On his registration form, “The Apprentice” star checks off the box marked “I DO NOT WISH TO ENROLL IN A PARTY.”

* APRIL 2012: Trump registers as a REPUBLICAN.

As of press time, Trump--who turned 69 on Sunday--remains registered as a Republican.

But once in the Oval office WHO KNOWS WHAT THE HECK HE WILL BE.

He would then be setting up to work against a Democrat president.
