As things stand, Donald Trump is the presumptive GOP nominee. Thats awful news, and depressing to contemplate. But terrible possibilities dont become less terrible if we refuse to contemplate them. Rather, they become more likely.
If the two factions which make up the overwhelming majority of Republican voters could be unified, it might be enough to stop Trump.
What would the deal look like? A RubioCruz ticket. Cruz wont work at the top of the ticket for the simple reason that too many GOP quislings fear Cruz more than Trump. But a unity ticket a la ReaganBush in 1980 in the form of Los Hermanos Cubanos might just do the trick. There are real costs to such a deal (not least the fact that there are better general-election running mates for Rubio).

Yes, they do get paid by The Cheap Labor Express to try to convince us to give up our country without a fight.
Ideally, we need to ensure that the second amendment is well protected before the exodus commences. It’s way past time for that issue to stop being an issue.
Jonah Goldberg has become his ahole mother.
Well, they better hurry up and put that ticket together right away then shouldn’t they? lol
The All Ineligible ticket

At least one was born on American soil albeit to foreign parents.
Except there are just as many people out there who refuse to vote for a ticket with Cruz on it... They are a quiet, rather dignified group, but they never miss a vote. Is it enough to cost us an election?? I don’t know. But I’ve talked to many people who will not cast a vote for POTUS,, and I fear they may not show up at all,, which could cost us statehouse elections.
Jonah has truly lost all judgement to post this.
Trump isn’t my guy in the primary, but they keep coming up with things that could make me revise my stance.
Cruz supporters need to buy a clue. Even now at Rubio’s darkest hour the anti-trump fanatics talk Rubio up for the top of the ticket. They would dump Cruz so fast at a brokered convention it would make your head spin. Cruz is now a willing partner to this con and any conservative who votes for him is equally culpable. There’s no do-overs on this one.
I would suggest Rubio and the Red Power Ranger.
So. Let’s make the loser the nominee?
I can see Cruz - Rubio. Not what I would choose but it has advantages.
But the only way Rubio ever has a shot again at this level is to not compete in Florida next week and then to go back to formula and win something, and rebuild. 10-20 yrs with good conservative mojo and no amnesty gangs.
How does Trump explain offering the vice-presidency to a man he believes is ineligible to be president, and who he has threatened to sue over his eligibility?
I mean I know we're not supposed to believe most of what Trump says but even so adding Cruz to the ticket would be hard to explain away.
That would be the dem Dream Team...the dems could take them both out with one eligibility lawsuit...
The Republican party is hell bent on self destruction. We need to ensure that they don’t take the second amendment down with them and if they do, we need to destroy the Republican party forever and then form a new party.
I can see me voting for a third party or worse over that ticket.
Might being the operative word in the land of unicorns and rainbows.
Dos mojados!
Yes, yes, the solution is a first term senator who never shows up for work, and who’s sole accomplishment is pushing amnesty... and another first term senator who is basically know for bringing the nation to the verge of default.
Yes, that’s the winning ticket....
Good Lord are these people stuck on stupid.

Thanks I was eating while reading this and almost choked while laughing at the same time. :-)
They already tried that at the last debate and still lost.
