UNION, S.C. (WSPA) Leigh Anne Arthur, a teacher at the Union County Career & Technology Center has resigned after a nude photo of her was spread through the school, says the districts interim superintendent.
The district said Arthur had nude photos of herself on her phone and a student took her phone while she was out of the room. The student then took photos of the nude images.
The student then shared the photo throughout the school. The district became of aware of the incident last Monday and she resigned on Tuesday, according to the district. Arthur reached out to WSPA after seeing the story and told her side of the story.
She said the week of Valentines Day, she had some pictures in a gallery on her cell phone that were intended for her husband. She said she left her cell phone on her desk to go out and be a hall monitor between classes.
In that time, a five minute span, a student took pictures of her phone from his phone and shared them with anyone in class who wanted them.
She said the kid then said at the end of class, your day of reckoning is coming. Later, she was told what had happened and checked with the students parents who she said were 100 percent on her side.
The student went to principal and admitted to taking the photos. Two witnesses also went to the principal. The principal asked for her resignation the next Tuesday, Arthur said.
The district told her there was no policy about inappropriate material on her cell phone but they were firing her for that reason. Arthur said she was also in trouble for making her phone easily accessible. She made a police report and the students phone is now in possession of Union County Sheriffs Office.
I saw what you did there...
How do you have a body like that and not have (at least) a double chin and jowls?
I understand your position and agree that isn’t something someone should do, personally.
But there are laws against invasion of privacy, but there are none that I know of that govern stupidity. What that little sh!t did was invasion of privacy and he knew better. And she should go after the owners of the phone and the account over which the stolen information was disseminated. Let the parents deal with the recrimination against the errant minor.
I do my own pizza pickups and probably just as well.
How do you she did not leave her phone out to be seen by students. Teachers know to secure their private belongings. I think she left her phone out so the pics would be found. That is what perverts do.
You are quite the winner, too. : )
You do know you are nuts, right?
Go somewhere else. Your instability isn’t appreciated here.
Especially those that run up $100K+ in student loan debt for a $45K/year job.
Nude photos and porn are 2 different things
Why would anyone walk around with nude pics of themselves on their phones?
Don’t ask me I don’t have a cell.
Maybe ask a family member
What??
Why would anyone walk around an airport naked?
LOL. I'll send you a private reply, 'K?
That chick is never going to have to work again.
The school had no cause to ask for her resignation. There was no policy about materials on her phone. She clearly proved it was the kids fault. She is married and there is no indication they were intended for any other purpose.
The Principal is an idiot.
My guess is the settlement will be at least for what she would have made over the next thirty years. Plus attorney fees.
Then she can go after the kids that did it to her.
Go get ‘em.
Why do women buy their wives “naughty nighties?” This was private. The pics were for her husband.
Did you read the article? She left for five minutes to do hall monitor duty. You know, her job.
Did you read the article?
Really? Did you read the article?
What’s the matter with people that they carry naked pictures of themselves around on their phones? AFAIC that’s evidence of moral depravity and grounds for dismissal. I wouldn’t want the woman teaching my kids.
Nuff said.
Since a soft fairly pointless major like “Social Science” is 4th from the top, I'm not sure how much any of this really matters.
