UNION, S.C. (WSPA) Leigh Anne Arthur, a teacher at the Union County Career & Technology Center has resigned after a nude photo of her was spread through the school, says the districts interim superintendent.
The district said Arthur had nude photos of herself on her phone and a student took her phone while she was out of the room. The student then took photos of the nude images.
The student then shared the photo throughout the school. The district became of aware of the incident last Monday and she resigned on Tuesday, according to the district. Arthur reached out to WSPA after seeing the story and told her side of the story.
She said the week of Valentines Day, she had some pictures in a gallery on her cell phone that were intended for her husband. She said she left her cell phone on her desk to go out and be a hall monitor between classes.
In that time, a five minute span, a student took pictures of her phone from his phone and shared them with anyone in class who wanted them.
She said the kid then said at the end of class, your day of reckoning is coming. Later, she was told what had happened and checked with the students parents who she said were 100 percent on her side.
The student went to principal and admitted to taking the photos. Two witnesses also went to the principal. The principal asked for her resignation the next Tuesday, Arthur said.
The district told her there was no policy about inappropriate material on her cell phone but they were firing her for that reason. Arthur said she was also in trouble for making her phone easily accessible. She made a police report and the students phone is now in possession of Union County Sheriffs Office.
And you know all this as fact and how??
Yes well SaraJ is off her meds this AM
Wheres it say they were porn pics?
Nude photos and porn are 2 different things
You did not understand me correctly and probably because you cant understand normal thinking
1) Not sure of the need for nude photos
2) Teacher is really dumb to store nudes on phone
3) Really stupid to not have phone secured with passcode (given 2) — you wouldn’t take a manila folder full of nude printed photos to school so why a phone with nudes?
4) Kid is worse than a peeping Tom, because most peeping Tom’s don’t take pictures and distribute them
Evil little bastard.
The photos on the phone were for her husband as a Valentine gift was my understanding....not meant for general population.
That boy happily told her that her day of reckoning was coming.
I just am at a loss with words at you. How about parents encourage their kids to respect the privacy and property of others.
You’re quite the winner.
That is unkind.

Ahhh, the timeless art of seduction!
(She better be glad the postal inspector didn't get involved in her ill-conceived mail order pornography ring.)
Not Guilty!
I have to admit, the thought never crossed my mind.
I agree, the kid that touched her phone without permission needs to be taught a lesson about that. Technically, everybody who has received a copy of the photos is in possession of stolen property.
Egzacly....Every kid these days knows a cell phone smart phone whatever you call them is Private Property
This little POS remark about day of reckoning proves malice.
You might want to rethink your judgement.....I do believe those are bingo wings hang'n down there......She's on the large size.
I would have to see the evidence myself in order to make a judgement...

That'll learn her about opsec and security. Don't do that stuff, or lock down the device.
Exhibit A as to why you lock your phone. The student was wrong, but she was stupid.
If it were me, there wouldn't have been any nude (or otherwise compromising) pictures on the phone in the first place. I know, hindsight is always 20-20.
This isn't 1963 anymore. More information than we ever dreamed is readily available to anyone who looks around for it. She is, in some ways, responsible for allowing this to happen.
If she can find somebody with deep enough pockets, maybe she can sue for some payback. Or, she could do something really creative and, and blast this story out onto social media.
If she has access to his Facebook account, for example, she can make her case a matter of public record.
It's not like the kid who did it could retaliate by blackmailing her with the pictures, they're already out there. He took his best shot at her, and now she gets to return the favor.
Colleges and prospective employers do check social media, and this might give those colleges and prospective employers reason to wonder if they want to invite such a slimy little rat to join with them.
