UNION, S.C. (WSPA) Leigh Anne Arthur, a teacher at the Union County Career & Technology Center has resigned after a nude photo of her was spread through the school, says the districts interim superintendent.
The district said Arthur had nude photos of herself on her phone and a student took her phone while she was out of the room. The student then took photos of the nude images.
The student then shared the photo throughout the school. The district became of aware of the incident last Monday and she resigned on Tuesday, according to the district. Arthur reached out to WSPA after seeing the story and told her side of the story.
She said the week of Valentines Day, she had some pictures in a gallery on her cell phone that were intended for her husband. She said she left her cell phone on her desk to go out and be a hall monitor between classes.
In that time, a five minute span, a student took pictures of her phone from his phone and shared them with anyone in class who wanted them.
She said the kid then said at the end of class, your day of reckoning is coming. Later, she was told what had happened and checked with the students parents who she said were 100 percent on her side.
The student went to principal and admitted to taking the photos. Two witnesses also went to the principal. The principal asked for her resignation the next Tuesday, Arthur said.
The district told her there was no policy about inappropriate material on her cell phone but they were firing her for that reason. Arthur said she was also in trouble for making her phone easily accessible. She made a police report and the students phone is now in possession of Union County Sheriffs Office.
Yea, and everyone who not celebrating anal sex is a closet homo. And everyone who accuses other women of wearing burkas to bed are closet Muslims.
Ladyjane, it is not normal to take naked pics of yourself then leave your phone unlocked and available so students have access to it. I think she wanted students to see her phone pics or she would have secured it. That is the way perverts operate. It’s called grooming.
I have studied pedophiles as we had two boys in our family molested by homos in the boy scouts. So I guess you could say that I am familiar with the MO of perverts. I will never feel sorry for an adult to exposes minors to porn.
Never put anything on your phone that you’re not willing to have go viral.
And anyone who blames her has no right defending Apple in the California terrorist case.
Huh? "does not compute"
Terrorist investigation=Nekkid Pics for hubby?
Oh God we hope there are no photos!!!!!!
ping
Trust me, I am not suggesting you take pictures of yourself.
But what two married consenting adults do is none of your business, none of mine, and certainly none that damn kids.
I am sorry you never had a fun sex life with a spouse. You should try it before you judge others.
That's a pathetic response Grow the hell up.
Yeah..,I am the one Judging.
So much for encryption on that phone.
There is a lot of that going on in this thread. Put the worst interpretation on things, the teacher is a pervert and the boy who propagated the images is a peeping Tom, and a pornography publisher. And an abuser of the person who was incautious with her phone.Deep breath.
Privacy just is not what it was, and people generally are cooperating in the degradation of their own privacy. Facebook. And so forth . . .Nobody much made nude photos of themselves when the pictures would have to be developed and printed by people not known to and trusted by the photographer. That has changed, but people just do not treat their cell phone as if it were a loaded gun - and if they have embarrassing photos on it, they should. It is therefore the case that the very existence of the digital camera is producing culture shock, wherein people have been given the ability to get outside the guiderails, and not everyone handles that well.
The principal went all in on CYA, and the pupil must not be allowed to grow up thinking that destroying peoples livelihood by intruding into their private information and exploiting it against her is an exploit he can celebrate. OTOH we do not want to write him off as garbage, either. He was an unsupervised child who came upon a loaded gun. What did anyone expect? Clearly he had an issue with that teacher - but is there actually a teacher anywhere who never had a student get mad at them???
And he apparently never learned a lesson that was fundamental when I was a kid: DON'T MESS WITH OTHER PEOPLES' STUFF.
If he doesn’t learn it, “society” will find a place for him ...
He was an unsupervised child who came upon a loaded gun.
Nah the teachers handheld computer aka smart phone was is no different than her pocket book/handbag or your wallet and this kid was well aware of that as most are.
He is/was a wise ass little POS and has “issues” with a whole lot more than just this teacher.
I hope this teacher gets council and proves to this kid and his parent(s) there is authority and there is you.
“The district said Arthur had nude photos of herself on her phone and -—”

Stopped reading here-—sorry young lady, but you are an idiot.
.
I’m reading the posts and am shocked how many people find fault with the teacher. Its not even a question if she is smart or not...good or bad. The student broke into private digital property and proceeded to distribut the material without authorization. Maybe libertarians no longer have a place at the Freeper boards - but why can’t conservatives And libertarians alike agree that the reality is our smart phones are filled with private and personal stuff. No one - NO ONE - should have a right to access it without permission. That includes the FBI and pimply faced snotty teens. And don’t give me the, “if you have nothing to hide...” Pap. I may puke
Welcome to the good ship reality
I’ll ask your family members. You are the one into it.
Not going there!
