I’m into a novel idea - voting my conscience rather than jumping on some crazy bandwagon.

For the past few decades, conservatives have opined that the GOP treats them like the crazy uncle that everyone wants to keep in the attic.

Here we go again. Trump is mapping out a new swath of voters (moderates, independents, Democrats) and yet again, conservatives are being sacrificed. When Dole, McCain, and Romney did this, they were excoriated. Yet Trump is being lauded for this “brilliant” strategy.

What this primary is doing is separating the real conservatives from the opportunists. I’m in the camp of the former and I know I’m not alone. But it surprises the bejesus out of me that there are so many faux conservatives here.

You are not alone. Many of us have "gone dark" for a time. A few seem to have decamped - hopefully only for a season.

I mostly only read about demagoguery in history books (though I did attend a George Wallace rally in 1968).

It never has had a positive outcome. The most recent was Perot putting Clinton in office. I used to see a few folks here who confessed their mistake in supporting him.
