What this primary is doing is separating the real conservatives from the opportunists. I'm in the camp of the former and I know I'm not alone. But it surprises the bejesus out of me that there are so many faux conservatives here.

You are not alone. Many of us have "gone dark" for a time. A few seem to have decamped - hopefully only for a season.

I mostly only read about demagoguery in history books (though I did attend a George Wallace rally in 1968).

It never has had a positive outcome. The most recent was Perot putting Clinton in office. I used to see a few folks here who confessed their mistake in supporting him.

I admit, it used to bug me that some folks on FR were often such “purists”. If a candidate didn’t get 100% on the Heritage Action scorecard, forget it.

Now those conservative scorecards are laughed at and impugned. Issues don’t seem to matter a whit.

I can’t figure out what happened and how it happened so quickly.
