You may need Java on, also this link has been giving a few people issues.
The link is here (For copy/pasters) http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=2013%20TX68&orb=1
Go to www.spaceweather.com and scroll down to the near-earth objects.

We can all follow JPL’s Asteroid tracking twitter feed at:

Not me. If more people hyped the concept, the 'end of the world' set would be out there baying at the moon, looting, committing all sorts of crimes before the end, whether it came or not.
This would not be an ELE, although an impact could be a serious smack depending on where it hit, angle of impact, etc.--or just a very big splash in the ocean somewhere with some resultant large (tsunami-like) wave activity afterward.
That would not stop the civil unrest from happening, and likely as many or more lives would be lost to that or panic than an ocean or remote area impact.
Speaking of Heinlein, how do we know this isn’t the start of a war caused by large rocks being intentionally chucked at us by a hostile arachnoid giant bug species?
I missed your reply before. Thanks! That is interesting and a bit scary.
We don’t. And your bigoted remarks, along with your
coordinates, have been logged on the INISDC computer.
International Inter-Species Dialogue Commission. (I knew you’d ask.)
About like a nuke.
KE =.5 M V2
That's the principle behind "Kinetic Weapons" (aka "Rods from God")...
“I did find it really interesting!”

You and me both! I drove cross country with my parents when they moved from Long Island, NY to Santa Barbara in 1974.
We stopped at the Meteor Crater in Arizona, and my parents stayed in the car while I went exploring.
I thought the Meteor Crater was cooler than cool!
Just one problem....my father was sitting in the car, counting out all the cash for the remainder of the trip. It was rather warm and windy, and he had the door open on the driver side of the front seat.
I was excited and in a hurry to see the crater, so just as my father yelled “Don’t open the door!”, I opened the door on the passenger side of the front seat.
The wind blew through the car, blowing the pile of cash for the remainder of the trip out of the car and into the parking lot.
Before I got to go into the visitor’s center and see the crater, I had to run through the parking lot and gather up all the money which was strewn everywhere, and I did just that.
Or more high tech. Search for “Rods from God.”
Just how much of that would be transferred to other objects (ejecta, fracturing and or plate movement), or converted to heat (melting, evaporation) would depend on the impact site and angle.
3m equals a JDAM. 10m equals a small nuke. 30m equals a big nuke. 100m equals ecological disaster. 300m equals an extinction level event. 1000m equals sterilization of all life on this planet. 3000m equals no more planet.
They move fast and hit HARD.
/just estimating, probably off a bit, but close
Yes, and E=mc**2 is perfect efficiency. Is doesn’t apply to this situation.
OMG!!
Barely 24,000 miles
More than 1700 miles beyond geosynchronous satellites?
Guess what, ZIMs*, all those graphics showing all the crap in orbit? Pssssst...
NONE OF THEM ARE TO SCALE...
* Zero Information Morons
Sure. if it were solid, and going 19Km/sec
Look up Lucifer's Hammer, by Niven or Pournelle (maybe both)
Thanks for posting! :)
It’s about the same size as created Barringer crater in AZ, yield was about 20 megatons IIRC. It was a nickel/iron body.
Larry Niven and Jerry Pournell
Lucifers Hammer (comet strike)
Footfall (Aliens use kinetic bombardment)
