A recent Gallup poll now shows that Independents make up 42% of the electorate. That's bad news for the Democrats and Republicans as now only 29% of Americans identify as Democrat and 26% of Americans identify as Republicans.
During the debate there were plenty of unnecessary personal attacks. Especially those between Trump, Bush, and Cruz. Another thing that drove me freaking insane was the bible banging that Pastor Ted Cruz decided to whip out again. I mean, there's only so much preaching you can do during a campaign. These Republicans need to focus on their plans and strategies. What they don't need to focus on is pandering to crazy religious imbeciles and appealing to those that live in the deep woods of the south. You know, the ones that wave a confederate flag on the back of their over sized pickup truck with all the monster energy drink patches on their clothes.
However, there is one savior left in this Republican campaign season. That's Ohio Governor John Kasich. He's the only moderate up on stage. He's the only one that can appeal to Independents and possibly even Democrats in a general election.

No! I have decide, based on last night’s debate, that we must return America to its true Christian roots! No more name calling! No more bickering!
Ted Cruz is the only consistent conservative who believes that this can be done. The Evangelical voters of South Carolina will see this too, next Saturday.
the Canadian thing threw me off.
I apologize.
We certainly need a big injection of Christianity into this country but fast.
This statement from the article is wrong:
:”John Kasich. Heâs the only moderate up on stage. Heâs the only one that can appeal to Independents and possibly even Democrats in a general election.”
I am a registered dem (by necesity, a long story, but never mind that), who has not voted since Perot. I voted Reagan twice, I voted for “Read my lips” Bush, then Perot, and never voted again.
I have said in other threads, I am a tradesman, I work on union sites, every day. I see more Trump stickers, buttons, whatever that I could imagine. Even on black tradesmen.
Further, not only is Trump bringing us blue collar dems to vote for him, well, it brought me here to this site, while I was searching for info on him (one of the stories had a link to this forum), and maybe many of you republicans think that is a bad thing, it seems like many of you don’t want us dirty blue collar types hanging around your country club, I find that I am in agreement with much that is posted here, stuff that I did not know republicans much thought about, and I am learning that you guys (at least some of you) value the same things that I value, while my current party does not (such as borders, jobs, the military, etc).
So, not only is Trump bringing people like me to HIM, he is also making people like me more aware of places like THIS, this forum.
Anyways, I just wanted to say, that the writer of this article is way off base in that statement.
Kasich?? Really?
Ughh
Trump/Rubio is the best way to get Constitutional Conservative values in the WH. Cruz is toast, now that he's been framed as a liar and dirty campaigner even by his colleagues on the stage, and not just Trump.
Rubio can go to hell! He is a closet dem all for open borders.
Welcome !
Very difficult to step around the smarmy trolls — all over the place. So sad.
FYI the Rally Threads do not allow trolling. They are really refreshing to peruse. Also some of the Religion ones.
Nothing more than additional enemedia outlets following the lead of their spiritual master, the New York Slimes, in endorsing the GOPe candidate least likely to win the general election.
“Trump had the chance to lose me for good last night”
I think you’ve posted “Trump finally lost me” about nine thousand times in the last two weeks. I had no idea you even came BACK to Trump 8,999 times so he could lose you FINALLY AGAIN that many times! You REALLY need to get a new shtick.
Maybe it’s just me but I have a long held suspicion that the overwhelming majority of so called “Independants” are Republicans who left that party thanks to decades of deception, compromise, cronyism and surrender to Democrats.
That's pretty much a common opinion (around my part of Texas), anyway.
I wish I could be an honorary southerner.
Just keep up the good fight for what you believe in....and I'd say you have a "southern spirit", no matter where you live.
had a great chance to go down there with my boss 12 years ago, but I just canât take the heat and I LOVE the fall and winter.
Heat, tornadoes, rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, scorpions, etc. can make Texas a pretty harsh place to live in the summer for people not used to it. Out in the rural areas where I am, it's easier to deal with the heat than if you're stuck in one of the bigger cities with all the asphalt and buildings. As a 6th generation Texan, I don't know if I could handle the heat if I was forced to live someplace like Houston.
dude, i’m the most confused primary voter of all times.
never followed one before and am embarrassed by my indecisiveness.
you have to admit, trump says something great in the morning, then makes an idiotic tweet the same day.
I love Ted, but the Ny thing, the email thing, the wife saying he’s the face of God.
the race is confusing as hell.
my shtick is being embarrassingly confused.
as i’ve said before, pulling R instead of D is easy.
R instead of R is not
If I saw a scorpion, my fat NY heart would stop for good!
thanks for reminding me why i didn’t go!!
Great people, but i need under 60 degrees half the year!!
“Independent” voter = “I am afraid to admit I am really a liberal democrat who always vote democrat, but want to show you (the pollster) that ‘I’ am hip and interested and a discerning voter more intelligent than the redneck rednecks, hicks, and people who call themselves democrats ... “
She wasn’t talking about Ted being the face of God. She was talking about showing the electorate “the face of God” in his platform positions. You know like being against abortion, for fighting for God-given liberty, and standing up for Judeo-Christian principles on which this country was founded. That is the “face of God” she was referring to. That is why she referred to supporting his “religious views”, even if they weren’t married.
Now, you can argue whether or not that is a good thing to promote, but claiming she was saying Ted is the face of God is really stretching it.
i have to start verifying the info i get from others on my own.
it has mislead me several times.
thank you
i dont blame the person telling me, it’s my job to do the research
I've seen many primaries that's why I'm jaded against politicians.
Primaries are indeed tough. Sometimes, I like aspects of more than one candidate. This is one of those times. You have to weigh everything and choose.
During the general election, I nearly always pull R. Sometimes, I'll leave a particular race unmarked, particularly if the D is unopposed.
Once I voted Green when there wasn't an R in a race. And one time... boy is this deep dark secret confession time... I voted for a Democrat over a Republican.
That was a local race, I knew both men personally, and the R wasn't fit to sweep the streets. He won anyway.
