Nearly two out of three of these oral cancers in the United States and most western nations are caused by infection with the HPV 16 strain of the virus, and incidence of cancer is on the rise in recent years, said Gypsyamber D'Souza, who teaches epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
Middle aged white men are at particularly high risk compared to other races.
...
The reason may be that when women are first exposed to HPV vaginally, they mount an immune response that prevents them from getting an oral HPV infection, she said.
But men do not seem to have equally robust immune responses.
"Men are not only more likely to be infected with oral HPV infection than women, but our research shows that once you become infected, men are less likely to clear this infection than women, further contributing for the cancer risk."

Mandated HPV vaccinations for boys can’t be far off.
Well, that’s depressing.
Boy,am glad I chose cheeseburgers and not perverted sex as my "guilty pleasure".
They never what would stop all of this-sexual relations only in marriage.
I’m not sure how, but some way I will work this in to a conversation...
Thankfully as I have gotten older and balder that becomes less and less an issue.
So the Gypsy Davey did have a child!

The old saying “sit down and keep your mouth shut” has multiple applications.
Yeah, in other words, multiple sexual partners (despite Bill Clinton’s assertions) are not healthy—physically OR spritually.
The principles of the Bible prove correct.
Again.
I’ve been spending the last couple years educating myself about the powers the bacterial biome has over us. Our gut bacteria and indeed all the bacteria all over us controls our immune response, our moods, our weight, and a lot else. I’ve learned how harmful antibiotics and chemotherapy can be, and I’ve seem first hand what one wrong bug population can do to your digestive system.
The more I learn about how powerful the bacteria in us are, the more I realize how choosing whom you share bacteria with is actually a life or death situation.
When we were kids, we thought all the sex stuff was yucky. In some ways we shouldn’t have doubted our child instincts!
There are some nasty bacteria out there, that lead to depression or cancer. If you are super healthy, sure, you can endure a roll in the hay with a germy stranger... But what if you aren’t? You really could pick up some nasty stuff. This is true for either gender. It deserves at least some sober thought. EVERY bacteria on that person’s body is “venereal,” if you will. Every bacteria in any orifice you deal with IS TRANSFERABLE TO YOU.
Exposure to good bacteria is good. If your partner has some great bugs, messing with him or her is like taking probiotics. But how do you know how good their bugs are??
please let us know how it went :)
Is it linked through giving or getting oral sex?
These findings suggest that intensive personal research is obligatory for us all.

Stay away from bad clams.
Good luck with that. "Listen, it's actually very healthy for you to down on me but very unhealthy for me to reciprocate. And here are the medical reports that back that up!"
Ick. Thanks for sharing that image. I'll have to drink an extra beer at happy hour while hanging with my lovely (female) wife tonight.
