What was to become the story we know as Frankenstein, was written by Mary Wollstonecraft at a summer retreat on Lake Geneva. She and her betrothed Percy Shelley were the guests of Lord Byron whose personal physician was Dr. John Polidori. They On a challenge from Byron,they all endeavored to write a horror story. Polidori’s contribution was later published as, “The Vampyre,” which would become the first modern English vampire story.

never read Frankenstein, but I gather the Boris Karloff character is not what they had in mind.
Perhaps more the (terribly cast) Robert DeNiro character was more i line?
