The Media Lets Trump Set the Narrative Because He Uses it to Destroy Republicans.

Posted on 02/09/2016 12:27:26 PM PST by dangus

So how much have you heard in the press about Trump's casinos being the ground-breakers in using strippers?

He's always attacking Cruz' (marital) ties to banks. Ever hear the media talk about Trump owing tens of millions to banks, like Deutschebank, the bank which toppled Europe's economy, then funded the 1% movement? If they called in their loans, how nadly would Trump be hurt? Can he really oppose them?

How about Trump's foundation dumping vast quantities of money into Susan G Komen when pro-lifers backed out because of their funding of Planned Parenthood?

Every time the media bashes Trump, they give him the chance to get out the message that HE wants to get out. Despite their hand-wringing and screams of horror, they are providing him non-stop free campaign commercials.

"Yay! He's setting the narrative!" declare all of Trumps' supporters.

Exactly how long do you expect this to continue, once Trump is the target. Doesn't anyone remember how the media let McCain set the narrative in the Republican primaries in 2008... until he was nominated, and then they crucified him?

But you don't even need to wait to the general election to watch how the general public views Trump. While he has amassed a plurality of primary voters giddy with watching the news media report on Trump's antics, the rest of America hates Trump. With a passion.

No, he's not appealing to blacks. He gets 4% black support vs. Hillary Clinton, far less than Cruz' 11%.

In NBC/WSJ's mid-January poll, he lost to Bernie Sanders by 15 points. 39-54!

In Quinnipiac's early February poll, Trump had managed to push Cruz's negatives sky-high, but Cruz still ties Clinton while Trump loses by 5 points.

According to a new poll from Roanoke College, in swing-state Virginia, he loses by NINETEEN points. (Cruz also loses by four in this possibly Democrat-leaning poll... but still: Cruz does 15 percent better!

He is socially liberal

He is far worse on fiscal issues than social issues. And a man who blamed the victim of Muslim terrorists doesn't impress me.

Fiscal issues? He actually has a major business where he has to not only balance a budget but make profit. He has a record of handling major projects and bringing them in under budget and on time. Is opposition to unlimited “free” trade deals instead of fair trade deals is exactly right. Stopping illegal immigration is fiscally responsible.

There is not another candidate with those fiscal responsible credentials.

I think Trump is repulsive and there is no way I would vote for him. I’m from New York City and he was the type who was always detested even in New York - cruel, crude, wealthy, ruthless and self-obsessed. He’s bought himself an election, but not with my vote.

Now he's got the media eating out of his hands and we pretend that they were with him all along?

Its part of "The art of the deal" and exactly how Trump can win in the forthcoming policy negotiations if he becomes president.

“Ever hear the media talk about Trump owing tens of millions to banks”

More like hundreds of millions.

Close to a billion.

It is true. The MSM are supporting Trump and laying in wait.

He is one of them.

They made him and can break him.

“The RNC establishment and House and Senate leadership need to be destroyed. They do not represent a majority of the base’s views.”

I agree.

But Trump isn’t going to do that. He even said as much.

The media lets Trump set the narrative because they can’t stop him. They are his puppets. They will do anything for ratings. They televise every rally as he is calling them rats and low lifes.

No, no, you don't understand, the media really loves Trump.

Just ask any Cruz backer, they'll convince you.

Really.

His venture have mainly failed.

He’s no Richard Branson.

Well, history is history.

Compare Trump Airlines to Virgin Airlines.

You probably didn’t know Trump tried an airline business.

Cool.

I’m curious.

Did you watch his TV show?

No hidden meaning or attack.

>> Exactly how long do you expect this to continue, once Trump is the target <<

I believe you’re precisely on target with your analysis. But I think there’s more to the story:

The media always love a “narrative.” A good narrative (novel, short story, movie script, whatever) needs a beginning, a middle and and an end. In a presidential campaign, the media often will build a candidate up in the beginning, let him soar for a while, and then play out the age-old scenario of a horrible, crash-and-burn ending.

It’s a theme that’s as old as the Greek tragedies, hubris and all, like Icarus’ flying to close to the sun. The excitement of such a “classical” drama, as it can occur in our modern political context, is something that will sell newspapers, attract TV viewers, and generate advertising revenues.

With Trump, however, there’s more to the media’s action than just the inherent rise-and-fall drama of a Greek tragedy. The journalists and their editors are savvy enough to know that Trump would be absolutely the weakest possible GOP candidate in the General Election. So they have a second motive for building him up to stratospheric levels before crashing him down to earth. Trump is a twofer! Not only will his rise and fall generate revenues for the media, but his candidacy ultimately will give the Dhims their best chance for a smashing triumph.

Therefore, the Dhimmi-loving media want to do whatever is in their power to make Trump the GOP standard bearer, and they know full well how easy it will be to visit near-total ruin upon his campaign and upon his personal image. They’ve gotta be licking their chops just now, in anticipation of the fun that awaits them.

If Trump gets the nomination, I think Trump’s mafia connections will be the theme the MSM will try to use to destroy him.

Or compare Trump University to another for-profit school, like ITT Tech or University of Phoenix.
