Book the website located at the link.
Copy the article you want to post and paste it in the top box located at the linked website. Press convert, then copy the converted text and paste it into the Free Republic "Body of Thread" box.
Try it a few times. It's basically self-explanatory and very easy.
bump for reference
It would be nice if the Moderator(s) would add a ‘permanent’ link to this site, ‘http://dan.hersam.com/tools/smart-quotes.html';, so we would not have to dive into our pings to find it. I readily admit to loathing this irritation but I will bet that the Robinsons have a deeper feeling about it.
Good point. You still should preview before posting.

I think you can paste your text into any basic text editor like Word Pad and get the same result. You’ll lose your html though.
That apostrophe included in the link generates one of those 'There Ain't No Such Place' errors.. ;-)
This is a nice workaround. How much longer will we have to use it?
What caused this problem? Seems like it started all at once. Software update that went astray perhaps?
See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3381094/posts and the links in this post especially: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3381094/posts?page=69#69
Thank God for those coders!
Could you also post a tutorial on how to effectively use the excerpt window with tips like don’t repeat the title of the thread or the author and date in the excerpt window or get right to the point instead of seemingly wandering off from the subject of the title and eventually coming back at the end of the article? This sort of highlights feature of the excerpt option in FR is part of what makes this forum so useful, but a lot of posters don’t seem to take advantage of that.
Or, they could fix the code here.
I am sure there are freepers who could code at a non Union rate.
