Arizona police shot and killed a transgender man who gained viral fame last year after uploading a video showing his service dog calming him during a meltdown.

The 24-year-old, who had Asperger's syndrome, was legally known as Danielle Jacobs, but identified as Kayden Clarke and hoped to transition from female to male, friends told the Arizona Republic. Police were at his home Thursday morning after being alerted to a suicidal email he had sent out, according to the Associated Press.

A pair of officers tried to talk to Clarke through an open doorway as a third officer retrieved a "less-than-lethal option," a Mesa police spokesman said Friday, according to video uploaded by the Republic. Clarke came to the door with a large kitchen knife in hand, said the spokesman, who referred to Clarke as a woman.

I think that people who try to distance themselves from their gender are, in fact, desperately trying to get away from themselves. Gender is a central component of anyone’s identity. To a person who does not like who he or she is, pretending to be a person of the other gender is a way of trying to escape.

It is sad, but not surprising, that this woman who was so desperate to escape from being herself was, in fact, suicidal, and managed to commit suicide by cop.

You’re not half as confused as she was.

Arizona police shot and killed a transgender man ...

This term is ambiguous. I pictured a man who wanted to be a woman and later read it was a female to male. This is an insane.

Not sure which is worse, the blood thirsty cops or the utter lack of sympathy and compassion by those on this thread.

I know an individual with severe Asperger’s syndrome. It’s a type of autism. The person’s brain doesn’t process information correctly. It’s a birth defect and not their fault. It’s not an emotional problem as much as it is physical problem with the brain.

They certainly didn’t deserve to be murdered in their own home.

Well at least the cops stopped the suicide. /sarc

She should have addressed the Asperger’s first. One thing at a time! Those service dogs are expensive too; not sure who provided one for her, but it looks like he was doing his job anyway.

Just saw a service dog a couple of weeks ago at a handball tournament. He was helping to care for a child with Down syndrome. Those dogs are incredible.

I’ve told the story here before... I will try to give the compressed version.

We responded to a 911 “hang-up” medical emergency call. No one would answer the door. My crew and I laddered an upstairs window. As I came down the stairs a guy was sitting naked on the couch. When I asked if he was alright he pointed a handgun at me but could not get it to fire. I ducked and made a quick exit through the front door. He went running after me still messing with his gun. Then he went back into his house.

We called for police back-up. After the first officer arrived the guy opened his back door and ran into the garage still naked and still holding his gun. Then he started up a lawn mower.

The police officer with us asked me if it would kill him. I said he would pass out before he died. He started coughing. About a dozen other cops showed up. He eventually came out with his hands up. I went in and shut the lawn mower down. The police officer who went in with me found his gun. When the officer took the magazine out we could see that the numbskull had loaded all the cartridges in backwards. I have several similar 9mm pistols but until then didn’t realize you could get the cartridges in the magazine the wrong direction. Fortunately, the idiot wasn’t able to figure out what he had done wrong or it might have turned out differently.

I teach in an urban public high school in which we’ve lately experienced an increase in the amount of homosexuals. This year we now have three “trans” students. Here is my anecdotal theory: Homosexuals are, for the most part, the product of pedophilia. They were abused as children and now suffer severe mental illness regarding their sexuality.

If this is the case, my heart goes out to this poor girl. Having Asperger’s made her an easy target for some freak.

Thank you. My daughter has mental illness and regardless of the transgender thing, this poor guy was suicidal and unfortunately the cops helped him achieve his goal.
Prayers to the young HUMANS family. May he find the peace his heart was searching for.

FAA Makes it Easier for Transgender Pilots to Get Certified

By BECKY PERLOW

Jan 30, 2016, 1:16 PM ET

Transgender pilots are no longer considered to suffer from a gender identity disorder — that’s according to an updated medical guide at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which changed its terminology from “gender identity disorder” to what it now calls “gender dysphoria,” a more widely-accepted term within the LGBT community.

The FAA tells ABC News that the change was intended to streamline the process for transgender pilots and make sure pilots receive medical certification as quickly as possible. The federal agency was quick to note, however, that there is no new policy and the vast majority of transgender people who seek an FAA medical certificate get their certificate as long as they do not have disqualifying medical conditions.

“We have issued medical certificates to transgender pilots and air traffic controllers for many years,” the FAA said in a statement to ABC News.

“Previously, each case was managed at FAA Headquarters. If there was no prior history of associated mental health issues, after several years following gender re-assignment surgery, airmen were advised they were eligible for an unrestricted (regular) medical certificate,” the statement said. “No mental health status report was required.”

According to the updated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) guide, transgender pilots who have either undergone gender re-assignment surgery five or more years ago, or have taken hormone therapy for for five or more years, are not required to submit a mental health status report.

However, those transgender pilots who have been taking hormone therapy or had a gender reassignment surgery within five years need to submit a mental health status report or an “evaluation from the treating physician, using World Professional Association for Transgender Health guidelines (WPATH), which addresses items listed in the Mental Health Status Report.”

Proponents of the change say the updated terminology doesn’t go far enough. Jessica Taylor, a transgender pilot who’s been flying for seven years, told ABC News that while it’s a big step forward for the transgender community, she’s still campaigning for the FAA to remove “gender dysphoria” from the AME guide altogether.

“I still cannot believe we are treating gender dysphoria as a separate issue from being a breathing human,” Taylor said.

One positive outcome, though, Taylor said, is that the updated AME guide has simplified things for transgender pilots.

“This has taken so much ambiguity for myself and every other airman for what the FAA is using as criteria for a transgender airman or airwoman,” Taylor said.

It has been my experience that Aspi women think that they are men.

Even the famous ones wear ties, like Temple Grondin.

Don’t want to die? Don’t attack the cops. It doesn’t matter if you are the most viral-ed transgendered male or an eternally oppressed black young man or a homeowner with a dog.

It helps to remember that the news media always identify them by what they want to be.

Except in the case of Obama. They call him "President Obama" instead of "Caliph Barack ibn Barack."
