I guess that’s ehy, even though confined to a wheelchair, he left his wife for a woman he was having an affair with.

I don’t think women as friends, coworkers, other platonic relationships are or should be considered a mystery. If anything, it would be a romantic or sexual relationship with a woman he is calling a mystery. And it sounds like he is speaking more about himself and his goals vs the woman’s goals. Which can of course be very complicated.

What Hawking has bumped into is the aspect of the human soul that is generally ignored.
Science may figure out the mechanics of the universe, but there are mysteries completely out of the scientific realm that can only begin to be explained by God.
