ONTARIO, CA (KTRK) -- A couple was married this weekend in California just five minutes after meeting each other for the very first time.
Erica Harris and Arte Vann say they fell in love with each other last year after a courtship that began on Instagram.

OK, so they met online and communicated long distance since last year... not like they just became aware of each others existence and them married in 5 minutes.

It probably turned out well. They were both from Iran and probably related to the Shah. (Based on her Dior wedding gown they probably were very well off.) Last I knew they stayed here in the US and were happily married for at least 15 years.
The NYTimes ( I no longer read that rag) had an article a few years ago about arranged marriages. Most of them survived for decades. Who knows if they were happy.

When almost 28, married my wife 6 weeks after meeting - celebrated 43 years last Wed. When I called my parents 1,000 mis. away 3 weeks before we married, only then did I find out 30 years earlier my parents married 6 weeks after they met. “We never told you because we were afraid if we told you, you might do the same thing.” Exact words.
They were close to 69 years when my dad passed at 93.
One of my BF’s when we got married had gone with his wife all through HS and all through college - 9 years before they married. He came back from honeymoon and told me, “I don’t think it’s going to work.” After 20 years and 4 kids, they divorced.
POINT: You really don’t know someone until you are married. Even after living together for several years, everything changes with marriage - more divorce who’ve lived together prior to marriage than those who don’t.
I never would have picked my wife normally - so different from all girls I dated. But our marriage gets better every year, and I cannot believe how perfect we are for each other.

I know someone who married a guy she met in a chat room. They met in person a few days before the wedding. The marriage only lasted a few months.
I brought my wife over from the old country in September. Married her in December. Of course, I’ve known her a while.

She rolled her eyes when she told us, but it was while he was in the South Pacific during WWII. He couldn’t exactly come home to get down on one knee ;-).
