What an amazingly terrible 2/3 weeks for us older musicians. But Keith keeps kicking!
I liked Mr. Kantner’s work. He was kind of the showrunner, the leader of the Airplane/Starship business. The musician, not that Jorma and Jack and Grace were not very talented as well.
One of mine and DH’s all-time favorites. Sure brings back some incredibly wonderful memories!
“It’s the quitting that kill ya.”
Ya know, that’s an interesting thought! I’ve known several people who quit smoking, and died within a year.
It started out as Jefferson Airplane, but when it got much much bigger than that and Kantner had sci-fi dreams of interplanetary crap, it morphed into the Jefferson Starship. But it was Kantner from the very beginning.
Did you get creeped out? LOL
Somebody told me that he gets blood transfusions every six months. That guy looks like a cadaver.
That’s what happens when you ride the tiger.
Noticed it myself. "Blows Against The Empire," hmm? What happened was the Lefties became The Man and the rest of us have been laughing at them ever since. They're not laughing, though, they're deadly serious, with the accent on "deadly". I've said for a long time that when it at last goes down you may be surprised at who you end up sharing a foxhole with.
I met him and 2 other guys from the group at Maisson Jaussaud’s in Bakersfield. Went in one night and sat down at the bar when these 3 guys came up and started talking to me. I was ignoring them so they were trying to chat with me and said....hey, we’re famous. I laughed and said....yeah, sure you are. They said yeah yeah, haven’t you heard of Jefferson Starship? I laughed and said so? They thought that was funny as heck that I wasn’t impressed so they stayed and talked to me about 30 minutes. Finally they left. They had told me they were just passing through to L.A.
Looked up their pics the next day and yep it was them. Had fun with them.
Look at the cover of their first album, Bill is abdo-lutely green!
LOL! You got that right. I think about that every time I hear that oldie, “Signs”. In the 60s they complained about too many signs. Those same people take over and now they’ve put up signs for everything! “Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the signs?”
Thanks, I should have done a quick Google to look it up.
Great music, makes m pine for the past.
You and me both, FRiend
Keith is as sharp as a tack, despite all the drugs.
“Did you get creeped out? LOL”
Ha, when I saw him I was kind of startled. I’m just glad I didn’t do the lawn sprinkler move and get his shoes! :)
COuld be a rare treat, to interact with people who don’t know or won’t believe you’re famous. Instead of kissing your @ss like everybody else.
“Keith quit.”
Ya know,,, I’ve always found Keef to be interesting. He’s not that good of a guitar player, but the licks he comes up with are incredibly masterful. Easy to play, but so powerful! Love him!
I guess he’s gone to meet Martha
