Limbaugh: ‘Nationalism And Populism Have Overtaken Conservatism’ In GOP [VIDEO]
Daily Caller ^ | 1-20-2016 | CHRISTIAN DATOC

Posted on 01/20/2016 11:40:34 AM PST by Citizen Zed

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday that Trump's popularity is evidence that "nationalism and populism have overtaken conservatism" in the Republican Party

"The Trump triumph - the Trump coalition - is exposing the fact that it isn't conservative orthodoxy, or conservatism or any of the hard work of the conservative elite," explained Limbaugh, "that is causing people to be conservative."

LIMBAUGH: It's something really simple... They're fed up with the modern day Democratic Party... The Republican Party establishment does not understand this. They do not know who their conservative voters are. They've over-estimated their conservatism... They're not liberals. They're not Democrat. Many of them do not want to be thought of as conservatives for a host of reasons. So somebody who comes along and is able to convey that he or she understands why they're angry and furthermore, is going to do everything to fix it, is going to own them. What's happening here is that 'nationalism' - dirty word, ooh people hate it - and 'populism' - even dirtier word. Nationalism and populism have overtaken conservatism in terms of appeal.

You and DONALD TRUMP (PEACE BE UPON HIM) can lead us to defeat folks who would phase out unneeded government subsidies and mandates such as those for Ethanol. You must be VERY PROUD of yourself as you and your Donald embark upon the journey to stop the world from burning.

We don't care about subsidies nor Ethanol...Those are distractions right now...They in fact couldn't be less important to the near future of our Nation...

We do care about open borders with people from Mexico and India taking the few jobs that are left..We care about the terrorists masquerading as refugees coming into the Country...We care about our 'Conservative' Congress giving hundreds of billions of our tax money to terrorist countries and organizations...We care about both parties stealing from our Social Security benefits that belongs to the workers who put the money there...It doesn't belong to Congress to divvy out wherever they want to spend it...

Farm subsidies??? Not even worth considering at this time...

I agree that Trump is anti-progressive anti-SJW and anti-PC, but Nationalism is the ideology that drives his campaign.

With that said lets talk about PC culture and how it’s destroying the West.
I think there’s a major divide between younger members of the right-wing and older members who are isolated from the PC madness out there.

Everyday in our office we are under the assault of Social Justice - it is an oppressive cloud that is destroying productivity. One off color joke, one slip up, and you’re turfed.

HR departments are staffed by ultra-leftist Social Justice millennials who are hiring based on ID politics and not competency. Companies are being filled with women and minorities who fit their world view but are practically worthless on the job.

There is an all out assault on Western culture and values and no one stepped up in the public until Trump did.

I’m sorry but Ted Cruz is not the culture warrior we need right now. He’s just not the guy. Trump is the wrecking ball we need to smash the PC totalitarian madness. If we can’t stop it now kiss Western civilization goodbye.

What a statement! Trump’s wealth comes directly from the government gravy train! Government grows under DUmocrat administrations...always has. He is dead wrong about the economy, but his bank account certainly grew under Dems.

Trump’s family traditions: bribes, kickbacks and graft. All of which are all useful “tools” of buiness as usual for Trump. Funneling money to politicians for policies favorable to his business isn’t something that appeals to me.

When did you go to school, because whenever it was, you didn't learn any factual American history.

There were no "public schools" nor teachers' unions when Andy Jackson ran for and won the presidency and he was a POPULIST.

Would you like me to make a list for you, of other POPULIST presidents?

Perot was a MORON; more of the pretend "folksy/hick" a la Huckabee, know nothing who ran to help the Clintons, because he HATED Bush.

And no, that is NOT why Trump is running.

No, unlike Perot, Trump doesn't get GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS!

Trump made his money in the PUBLIC SECTOR!

You truly don't even understand the simplest of things.

The majority of voters remain what they have always been: Scoop Jackson Democrats. That is, Jacksonians.

The massive corruption spawned by pseudo free-market "reforms" in telecoms, banking, airlines and other industries needs to be addressed, as well the mockery of "free trade" with China (and the rest of East Asia).

The reason this election is going to be so nasty is because it will be a fight between those currently using the levers of government to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else, and someone who will use those levers to strip the current elite of its prestige and economic supremacy.

There's no sense complaining about "principle" as long as the current elite is shoving a pole up our arses. We need the power of government to redress the trade problem and internal monopolies.

His fathers empire was built through government housing contracts. Trump, like his father, uses bribes to obtain favorable policies and tax breaks. Look it up for yourself.

“Give it up. Rush threw in the towel today. He tried, but after the Palin endorsement, he knows he can’t drag Cruz across the finish line. It’s over.”

I agree. Rush tried to explain it, but missed several key facts. Cruz’s conservatism is not pure. I trust Trump more in illegal immigration than Cruz, who has dealt out teddy bears, been for legal status, been against prop 187, been silent - and now has followed in Trump’s footsteps.

Tax breaks and cutting red tape, is NOT the same as getting"kickbacks", government contracts ( which is how Perot made his money ), etc., so you just posted LIES.

Subsidized housing isn't exactly a government contract, either and his father built a LOT of just PRIVATE SECTOR stuff.

The LEAST you can be is HONEST...try it.

Rush also did a horrible job describing the views of Sam Francis. Sam was a contstitutionalist at his core. His flirtation with populism was electoral strategy, his views on the ethnic makeup of the country and globalism.

He did'’t advocate populism to replace the constitution. He deviated from conservatism only on globalism and trade.

Sam Francis was an atheist racialist who believed in nothing more then genes and chromosomes.

This is another symptom of the Trump candidacy; American conservatives used to be very different from European right wingers. They believed in G-d, not their "civilization." But now the civilization comes first and G-d (if at all) comes second, almost as if He were an idea that white people came up with.

Nationalism and populism can be a dangerous mixture.

I think when Trump says “the system is broken” he means too many others have learned his “business” methods of bribes and kickbacks, and now has too much competition.

https://youtu.be/UiVwA19DZ6g

Why else would he also come out against businesses bribing foreign officials?
