Bristol Palin: I hope my mom endorses Trump
The Hill ^ | January 19, 2016 | By Jesse Byrnes

Bristol Palin on Tuesday urged her mom, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, to endorse Donald Trump over Republican presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas).

The younger Palin took to her blog to note that her mom "has consistently supported" Cruz and accuse the Texas senator of "arrogance" for thinking a Trump endorsement could hurt her.

"After hearing what Cruz is now saying about my mom, in a negative knee-jerk reaction, makes me hope my mom does endorse Trump," Bristol Palin wrote in her blog post

that her mom shared on her Facebook page and tweeted to her 1.2 million followers.

"Cruz's flip-flop, turning against my mom who's done nothing but support and help him when others sure didn't, shows he's a typical politician. How rude to that he's setting up a false narrative about her!" she added.

Bristol Palin was responding to remarks from Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler earlier in day Tuesday, when he suggested Palin's endorsement of Trump would "be a blow to Sarah Palin."

"I think it would be a blow to Sarah Palin, because Sarah Palin has been a champion of the conservative cause and if she was going to endorse Donald Trump, sadly she would be endorsing someone who's held progressive views all their life on the sanctity of life, on marriage, on partial-birth abortion, he supported [the] TARP bailout - it goes on and on and on," Tyler said on CNN's "New Day."

"I didn’t go to Harvard Law School, but I know this: You can like two people in a race, but there will only one president," Bristol Palin shot back in her blog post.

"The audacity to suggest that because she chooses one over the other will somehow 'damage' her just shows arrogance," she added. "I hope you're right, and that she endorses Donald Trump today for President."

Speculation has been rising that Sarah Palin would be endorsing Trump during a campaign event in Iowa on Tuesday after Trump touted a "big announcement."

Why are people being so nasty to Bristol?

Did any of you actually read her blog or do you just knee-jerk?

Palin is a Pentecostal is she not? I know there are a lot of different kinds of Pentecostals, but a pervasive doctrine they’ve held is obedience to God equals monetary reward. So one of the fruits of the Spirit is wealth. Maybe she sees Trump’s wealth as clear evidence that he’s right with his god. That also explains why he doesn’t need to ask for forgiveness: god obviously loves him. Again, I know there are Pentecostals who don’t hold that view, but it is pretty common.

Most conservatives forgave her for endorsing McClaim for Senate as a loyalty thing. But if she endorses Trump over Ted Cruz, she is finished in conservative circles. And that goes double when Trump either loses and/or wins and he reverts back to his leftist, crony capitalist self.

Wasn’t it Sarah Palin who led the charge against crony capitalism? If she endorses Trump, she will go from conservative darling to political charlatan in a New York second.

She probably also spends her time reading Two Corinthians, never getting to that part of the bible where God condemns fornication!

It just shows she’s too touchy. The Cruz campaign did not attack Palin. Me, I’ve never liked Palin.

You mean like this?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3385674/posts

“...The prosperity preachers hold, more or less, that God will provide financial success to believers who have enough faith. Their gospel is a heresy, as Ross Douthat explains in his book Bad Religion. But Trump is not one to dig much beyond the surface of things religious, much less parse doctrine and guard the deposit of faith. On the campaign trail he has talked about what a great book the Bible is, while declining to identify a single favorite Bible verse. And he has said he’s not sure he’s ever asked God for forgiveness. As for attending church, he says he goes when he can but always on Christmas and Easter. In discussing his religion, he often defaults to some formulation or other of “I am a Presbyterian.”...”

Find these attacks by Cruz’s campaign and post them here. They would be disappointed, it would be a blow to her conservative credentials. That’s it.

I think she more likely fits under the category that Rush Limbaugh talked about the other day. Namely, that there are a whole bunch of voters who don’t even care much if he is a conservative, so long as he follows through on his promise to build the wall, ban muslims, etc, etc...

Ted Cruz did not utter a single negative word about Sarah Palin.

It is Bristol who is setting up a false narrative about Cruz with this baseless accusation.

I’d just like to point out that before/when Ted started taking on these GOP rejects, I said it was a bad mistake. This is why. They are gonna kill him from within. Just like the fairweather Freepers that used to praise him daily and knifed him when the new hotness blew into town.

I support Cruz and that isn’t changing. But it was a mistake to hire GOP scum.

Add another foot to the statue Steve.

Cruz just tweeted these “attacks”! I just love it when FR Trump supporters lie HAHA!

I love @SarahPalinUSA Without her support, I wouldn’t be in the Senate. Regardless of what she does in 2016, I will always be a big fan.

Yeah, if this is an attack by Cruz it’s one of the most tepid ones I’ve seen in a few decades of following politics.

Bristol’s quick and highly detailed response effectively shifts the perception to it constituting an attack though. As I said on another thread there’s little chance that Bristol’s statement wasn’t developed in advance, in anticipation of Cruz responding to a Palin endorsement of Trump.

So now Cruz is backed into a corner, his tepid statement is blown into a major attack on Sarah and Bristol takes a rhetorical 2x4 to him in “defense” of her mom. Does he now attack Bristol back?

My favorite Bible verses are Romans 8:28 and 29. For all things work together for good to them who love God, for those who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestine to be conformed into the image of his son.

My next favorite is Philippians 3:10. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his suffering, being made conformable unto his death.

Neither of those indicate that I should have golden sinks in my private jet.
