Bristol Palin on Tuesday urged her mom, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, to endorse Donald Trump over Republican presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas).
The younger Palin took to her blog to note that her mom "has consistently supported" Cruz and accuse the Texas senator of "arrogance" for thinking a Trump endorsement could hurt her.
"After hearing what Cruz is now saying about my mom, in a negative knee-jerk reaction, makes me hope my mom does endorse Trump," Bristol Palin wrote in her blog post
that her mom shared on her Facebook page and tweeted to her 1.2 million followers.
"Cruz's flip-flop, turning against my mom who's done nothing but support and help him when others sure didn't, shows he's a typical politician. How rude to that he's setting up a false narrative about her!" she added.
Bristol Palin was responding to remarks from Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler earlier in day Tuesday, when he suggested Palin's endorsement of Trump would "be a blow to Sarah Palin."
"I think it would be a blow to Sarah Palin, because Sarah Palin has been a champion of the conservative cause and if she was going to endorse Donald Trump, sadly she would be endorsing someone who's held progressive views all their life on the sanctity of life, on marriage, on partial-birth abortion, he supported [the] TARP bailout - it goes on and on and on," Tyler said on CNN's "New Day."
"I didnât go to Harvard Law School, but I know this: You can like two people in a race, but there will only one president," Bristol Palin shot back in her blog post.
"The audacity to suggest that because she chooses one over the other will somehow 'damage' her just shows arrogance," she added. "I hope you're right, and that she endorses Donald Trump today for President."
Speculation has been rising that Sarah Palin would be endorsing Trump during a campaign event in Iowa on Tuesday after Trump touted a "big announcement."
I'm not making that up.
Must be to some people. Posted so many times maybe avoid duplicate posts if in breaking.
No.
Actually, it was insightful. When it gets down to two people, folks have to choose one or the other. And if they’ve been on the same side up until then, why does the other guy suddenly become a bad person.
The Cruz campaign showed their ass by attacking Palin this morning. Not smart at all. Very disappointing.
This is relevant because Sarah tweeted a link to this blog.
And if any of you Palin bashers read the blog post, Bristol points out that Cruz people attacking Sarah today because she MIGHT endorse Trump is disgusting after all the help Sarah gave to Cruz in his senate race.
Well said Bristol.
Attacking Sarah Palin because she endorses someone else does not hurt Sarah, but it sure says something about the attacker.
There are posters on FR who should remember the same thing. The attacks on other posters simply because they support a different candidate are gross.
Some of the attacks I’ve been seeing lately are so low class I have to wonder if the attackers are paid to do so just to stir up trouble.
She evidently needs to take a reading comprehension course so she can understand exactly what the Cruz staff said. “They would be disappointed in Sarah”, not exactly criticism.
Did she manage to get out of high school?
Palin retweeted the Bristol’s blog.
They were saying essentially that endorsing Trump would be a bad move, not really an attack in my book.
Some of whats left of those supporters were doing that right here last night.
What did Ted actually say that was offensive to Palin?
Ted Cruz said nothing offensive about Palin.
So is there some bad blood between Sarah and Ted we never learned about? Enough that Sarah would endorse by association that Cruz is a nasty guy? This smells.
A very big strategic mistake by the Cruz campaign to attack Sarah this morning.
What the hell were they thinking?
It was Cruz’s spokesperson who speaks for his campaign.
Common sense seems to be rare anymore. And getting more rare every day.
I'm ready to toss my vote to the majority of mellinial political kids' "opinion," after all Pres. Carter asked 13 yr. old Amy what to do about nuclear weapons!
Cruz has given the left more ammunition than they ever needed over this birth issue. Between him and Obama we will have foreign born and anchor babies running for president from here on out. They are now using him to completely get rid of ‘natural born’ altogether.
Just out:
It’s time to remove the ‘natural born citizen’ requirement from the Constitution
