Bristol Palin on Tuesday urged her mom, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, to endorse Donald Trump over Republican presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas).
The younger Palin took to her blog to note that her mom "has consistently supported" Cruz and accuse the Texas senator of "arrogance" for thinking a Trump endorsement could hurt her.
"After hearing what Cruz is now saying about my mom, in a negative knee-jerk reaction, makes me hope my mom does endorse Trump," Bristol Palin wrote in her blog post
that her mom shared on her Facebook page and tweeted to her 1.2 million followers.
"Cruz's flip-flop, turning against my mom who's done nothing but support and help him when others sure didn't, shows he's a typical politician. How rude to that he's setting up a false narrative about her!" she added.
Bristol Palin was responding to remarks from Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler earlier in day Tuesday, when he suggested Palin's endorsement of Trump would "be a blow to Sarah Palin."
"I think it would be a blow to Sarah Palin, because Sarah Palin has been a champion of the conservative cause and if she was going to endorse Donald Trump, sadly she would be endorsing someone who's held progressive views all their life on the sanctity of life, on marriage, on partial-birth abortion, he supported [the] TARP bailout - it goes on and on and on," Tyler said on CNN's "New Day."
"I didnât go to Harvard Law School, but I know this: You can like two people in a race, but there will only one president," Bristol Palin shot back in her blog post.
"The audacity to suggest that because she chooses one over the other will somehow 'damage' her just shows arrogance," she added. "I hope you're right, and that she endorses Donald Trump today for President."
Speculation has been rising that Sarah Palin would be endorsing Trump during a campaign event in Iowa on Tuesday after Trump touted a "big announcement."
Exactly. Not exactly crazy stuff said by the Cruz team, but we live in crazy times where any hint of criticism of Trump means you’re a commie.
I agree that Cruz threatening Palin is not a good idea.
LOL.
I’ve been working and hadn’t checked it all day but as soon as I opened the app I saw Sarah’s tweet.
My thinking too.
I worry that you will be right, but the evidence is unclear. Trump is almost certainly a whole lot better than Jeb/Rubio/Christie, and that's a big plus. I'm also convinced that he'd be a strong general election candidate. Cruz is my first choice, but I'm having trouble finding a viable second (among those in the race) who is better than Trump. I don't like Trump's touchback Amnesty much better than Rubio/Bush's straight Amnesty, but Trump's campaign is otherwise mostly based on good ideas.
Conservatives support Ted Cruz over Donald Trump. There are those, as Rush Limbaugh says, who don’t care if Trump is a conservative because they want to believe he’s going to build the wall, enforce our borders, ban Muslims, etc. However, Trump’s record is clear...he’s a crony capitalist, New York liberal. He’s playing these nervous nelly’s for fools. Trump’s early supporters either never were conservative, or abandoned their conservative principles out of pure panic and desperation, even though they have a solid conservative running in second place...and who is the number one second choice in virtually every poll.
See my #106. I wanted to respond to your reply, but duty calls...aka...work!
Ouch, Bristle nails Cruz but good.
There are some very good arguments for him, many good reasons to like him.
I personally like them both, but for very different reasons. I prefer Cruz, but am thrilled at what Trump has done for the race, and what he has done to highlight conservative positions: on immigration, the economy, muzzies, and the immorality of the Clintons. Without Trump, Cruz is not in second, and not poised to win if Trump falters. Without Trump, we have a GOPe candidate leading.
Team Cruz will turn against anybody or anything that gets in the their way of gaining political power, even our constitution is under attack by team Cruz. Cruz is not what the founders would have considered a natural born citizen. In fact in their day Ted Cruz would not have even been consider a citizen of the USA.
And before she has even said anything. Kind of dumb.
Two campaign spoke persons came out against Palin. That does not happen without the knowledge and consent of the candidate. However seeing move is backfiring Cruz now in damage control mode just like he was after getting nailed on calling Trump unfit to be commanding in chief.
When did Cruz say was unfit to be CIC? Havent seen that.
” it was a mistake to hire GOP scum.”
Yep. Evill fails every time it’s hired
Bristol has a history of making bad decisions.
