That whole “content of character” thing is lost on these phonies.
I'd be more impressed if Spike would boycott the NBA as well for their lack of diversity.
I can appreciate their ire that “their” people were overlooked. I’ve been boycotting the oscars for years because “my” people - conservatives - are always overlooked.
Gervais said something like: I'm glad someone has finally stood up and started talking about how unfair it is that women can only make 52 million dollars per year at age 25.
This may turn into another “Day without Mexicans”, which offered traffic-free driving throughout the L.A. area. It ended up being quite a holiday :)
In don’t watch the NBA for my race is not equally presented.
Since he wasn’t mentioned in this article, I just have to ask:
Is WILL SMITH going to boycott the Oscars too, or is he going to go without his wife?
Ha ha!
Hmm - just my watch the Oscars this year for the first time in about a decade....
Argh...Philadelphia. I’ve tried to forget that one. One of the most overrated movies I’ve ever seen. Ham-fisted, preachy, and about as subtle and nuanced as an ABC After-School Special (actually, I think those had better scripts). The worst part (for me) was seeing the great Jason Robards reduced to a one-dimensional villain. All that was missing was a black top hat and some sinister mustache-twirling.
And don’t even get me started on Dances with Wolves beating out Goodfellas for Best Picture...
Western culture seems to be getting it from both sides now.
It is not the caliber of the work, it’s the color of the skin to those racists! The BET Awards already acknowledges individuals with black skin in the entertainment industry!
No one will notice.
Like I said, some movies are so good you want to watch them over and over. You pick up something "new" each time.
Dances with Wolves was OK. Don't want to see it ever again.
Gandhi was OK. Don't want to see it again.
Philadelphia?
Barely watchable the first time.
What if you didn’t come and nobody noticed?
I haven’t watched the Oscars since.... wow, I guess since Jack Palance did a one armed pushup.
Well...........bye.
Who really gives a rats rectum?
You’ve forgotten his slip of the tongue prior to his first time hosting the Oscars in 2005 where he said only gay men watched or cared about the Oscars. He “clarified” that remark.
