Parts of Britain woke up to a blanket of snow this morning with up to five inches falling in some regions after temperatures plummeted to -11C overnight - and forecasters warn of more snow tonight.
Areas including High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, London, Kent, Surrey, Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland all awoke to a coating of snow, while much of the country saw a heavy frost.
The Met Office said up to five inches of snow was recorded in parts of Cumbria, the Pennines and on the Scottish borders while two inches fell in communities across west Yorkshire, including in the town of Bingley.
Photographs from the Yorkshire market town show revellers messing about in heavy snowfall after leaving bars and nightclubs in the early hours.

But, but, but
Further down the page, the women “sledging” with their young children have pants on, at least.
I think the snow is pretty, although I’ve watched so many “Midsomer Murders” that it makes me anticipate a lot of people’s dying.
So beautiful and then I think about how the country has become and this makes me more than sad.
Not my intent to make you sad, FRiend.
Although I must say, I had the same reaction years ago to the movie Amazing Grace (the story of how the hymn was written and William Wilberforce's 30-year struggle to end the slave trade) when I saw the final scene: the royal bagpipe band playing Amazing Grace outside of Westminster Abbey in the present day. Knowing all that Western Civ has been through (with England's leadership for so many centuries) to the current time, when the very cultures of most of Europe and Britain are being willingly surrendered, I cried in the theater.
“”It looks freezing.””
It does but they were probably pretty well protected with “anti freeze”...they wouldn’t have known if it was snowing or the sun was shining.. Can you remember being that young? I can - with difficulty - but do remember that I never dressed like that or frequented the clubs. Probably should have allocated myself some fun...
I appreciate you pinging me to these threads. Thank you.
Hope you are well and having a nice weekend.
Maybe if Obama closes Guantanamo he can send them to a prison on an island in the Aleutians. Don’t we have some old Army bases up there. Imprisonment in Arctic would be so much “nicer” than a tropical vacation in the Caribbean. Might even discourage a few from offending in the first place.
Once I visited a Canadian city (Kapuskasing) in northern Ontario. Apparently they brought German POWs there and basically just dropped them off.
Good idea!
