Last year to open the Academy Awards, host Neil Patrick Harris joked, "Welcome to the 87th Oscars. Tonight we honor Hollywood's best and whitest." Then, after a beat: "Sorryâ¦brightest."
It was a tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement of one of the biggest scandals to plague the Oscars in more than a decade: every single acting nominee was white. Worse, in a year when Selma, a film about Martin Luther King Jr., was the best reviewed film of the yearâbut shut out in every race but Best Picture.
This year the joke is no longer funny.

Who’s hosting it again?
So basically they thought that “Straight Outta Compton” should have won Best Picture.
Hmmmm, maybe after seeing which movies were actually nominated, they may have a point.
**shrugs shoulders***
Models of diversity, just like the current Democrat presidential ticket. “Do as I say, not as I do.” Right.
There is no such thing as a right to recognition.
That and it would be RACIST to nominate someone just because they were black.
Another All-White Oscars? This Is Bull****. [Edited for language]

Last I checked - Bull**** wasn’t white. It’s about the color of - say - those whiners doing the complaining.
Chris Rock.
Don’t they have black only awards shows? They sure do complain over the dumbest crap.
Talent be damned . . . we gotta nominate people based on color! o.O
Leftists are some of the biggest racists around - no surprise here.
The transgender is scheduled to win this year.
I am truly surprised they didn’t give a nod to the Will Smith movie about concussions. I really am. That is a huge agenda for the left to destroy football. they get that agenda and a black guy with a Oscar.
I love Hollywood getting the race-card played back at them.
For me but not for thee
Well there is the BET awards. What’s the “B” stand for again?
Racists.
....Worse, in a year when Selma, a film about Martin Luther King Jr., was the best reviewed film of the yearââ¬âbut shut out in every race but Best Picture....
Of course!!!
Selma is the best film evah, when you sign your name to a review.
When you drop a secret ballot, you vote your conscience
Sorry. I lost complete respect for the Oscars and their race game when they have the Oscar to Denzel Washington for Training Day just to have both Best Actors to be black (Halle Berry I believe).
Denzel has definitely pushed out some Oscar worthy performances. But. Not Training Day.
Friday and CB4 were pretty entertaining, not Oscar worthy though.
Transgender....which movie and who?
