I can just sense it. Yesterday, it almost happened, and everything is being couched in words, words that perhaps are felt to be needed to ready others for the "whys" and "what fors", words that indicate it is going to happen. Who am I to judge? Levin was one of those who lead the charge against the gang of eight. For that, I will always love him. Even if he goes Beck.
Decades ago, I recall turning on the little Japanese made transistor radio and going through the AM dial and listening in on "Doctor" Steuart McBirnie and his "Voice of Americanism" radio show. This would be the late 1960's and into the 1970's, I cannot pin point the exact time frames but early 70s should be correct. Yes, that would be the times. Most of you have no idea who I am talking about.
A great anti-communist. He was heard on hundreds of radio stations. He died I think in the 1990's. The human voice is very powerful. You may not know him, but he was a giant. Like Levin is today. Of course, Levin has a much farther reach than the "Doctor" did back then. McBirnie was the trail blazer, however, for what was to come. "Americanism" was both a sort of a whole milk word, it might have even been "confusing", yet it was appropriate. The "Voice of Americanism" from Glendale, California. More would come, especially with the battles that Ronald Reagan had to undertake and the establishment opposition, some of the times were epic. AM Radio played no small part. Victories were to come. Many more after McBirnie were to come. You know, California is called the "Left Coast" for no reason, but from the Left Coast the greatest came, including McBirnie, and then came Rush out of Sacramento, California.
Of course, Reagan was attacked as being a former Democrat. An "entertainer". "Rich". On and on, a lot of it sounded like the same attacks on Trump. Actually, the attacks were very similar to the attacks on Trump. That he wasn't a "conservative" then, will he change again and Reagan become a Democrat? And the Republican establishment was vicious on Reagan, who risked so much of his personal wealth and ability to even make a living at all. Because they definitely went after that, his ability to even make a living. The same huge risks that Trump is facing, every angle being used. Reagan was extremely brave. I think Trump is extremely brave. Both called "bombastic". Literally, how many times did I have to be told, "Can we trust Reagan with his finger on the trigger?" (of the bomb)... Reagan was the "nut" who was going to blow up the world. On and on.
I suppose Levin would say, "see! They were attacking 'from the left'!"... Well, actually, Reagan was also attacked from the right.
In the many "campaigns", Reagan did have to go after his competitors. What the hell did they expect him to do? Politics is sort of like business. Or war, even. But really, some of the things Reagan did, said, going after the competitors, wasnât really any big deal, not really mean things. Just basic stuff.
So I recall, Rush was famous â for those funny, funny off takes, like political commercials, the Ted Kennedy thing and the car spinning "round and round" â people would literally record and replay these funny "commercials" on little tape recorders and, I swear to God, would replay them at work.
Rush expanded from Sacramento and became an icon. I love him. Who cannot? I really loved it, and still do, and I loved the mean stuff and the funny stuff.
But there was another guy, epic. Also called "Doctor". Doctor Savage. The first voice was heard on the "enemy station", AM radio KGO, then he move over to KSFO, both San Francisco. Levin later started a odd attack on Michael Savage. Honestly, I think Levin was jealous. Because Savage literally became a giant â both Jews had their moments and still do, but I am going to say Savage was more of a giant than Levin, God bless Mark and all. It is strange how things go, how these two started fighting. But honestly, I blame Levin more for it. I can tell you, Michael Savage is more, was more, than just a player in this entire rise of the Right, thank God for Savage. I am telling you, as he started his rise, people would be in cars, with the AM radio on, windows rolled down purposely so others would hear at every red light stop, they would be parked and playing Savage loud, "Adult content" yadda, yadda. The intensity there. Gripping. He would ripe the left into little mince meat, and entertain at the same moment, and be the General Patton the next, and the guy you want over to dinner a moment later.
I am going to reach a bit, but I don't think I am wrong, Levin would not have even existed if not for Savage. Also, Levin, yes, he is a Giant of a man. But not as Giant as Savage in the bigger picture of the rise of the Right. Levin is today leading the charge for the "Convention of States" â fantastic. Some States are even listening, and while it is a mix of "Constitutional Convention" and "Convention of the States" and such, and sort of one thing confusing another, if something does happen we all know who started it, Mark Levin. I love him.
I remember first hearing Glen Beck on 560 KSFO. Actually, he was about being funny. Seriously. I mean, he did a skit once, going the voice of an illegal alien. It was both epic, funny, classic, and memorial. He rose. Then rose higher still. We all knew he was a former drunk, in fact, being a former drunk probably contributed to his skill sets on the microphone, I hate to sound like someone promoting drinking, and Beck had gotten off the bottle long before his stardom. But later, he started getting nutty. Today, how can I NOT still love him? Of course. But, maybe I am wrong, but I think he thinks he is some God Prophet. To bring the message of the great apocalypse if we don't heed his angelic message of "love".
Beck went off on Trump. Now I sense, Levin is going to be next. Fine. But I am still going to support Trump. Sorry, Levin. I think also, Levin is about to make a huge mistake. I could be wrong. He has the absolute good intentions. He has been under huge stress for a long time, so many have. The stress is really bad. The times that weary men's souls. My God, the battles are epic. I am stressed, too. I bet a lot of folks are. But I will not change my vote because of Levin. And I think he is about to go Beck. Anyway, we are all suppose to listen to the debate tonight, to "detect" if "someone" (wonder who) uses "leftwing" or "attacks from the left". Levin is talking about Trump. We need to listen, replay it, each word. Is Trump actually working for Hillary, perhaps? He has changed his views from the past, will be become Hillary again? Pins and needles. Ok. I will listen carefully. But I think, Levin is under stress. Maybe I am wrong. But to me, he isnât Gods gift, sorry. Sure hope he is there for all of this as the struggles continue. He is a giant Giant. Keep up the good work, Levin. I am not going to "attack from the left" and dump Trump. Sorry. I guess I am just a nut for the "cult of personality". Or something. But personality, like giants of the AM dial, is important, too... There are a lot of nutty things going on. A lot of stress. I am going to have "nerves of steel", however. I am not going to turn on Trump. No way, because he is the one who first got the issue of illegal aliens front and foremost. He is, to me, one hell of a brave guy. And yes, like Reagan. He might be from New York and not California, but he is ok by me. Ok Levin. I will listen to the debate. But my framework is a bit different. Ok, the "attack from the left" thing. But I am not going to go nuts about it.
I think you may have swalloed the GOPe schtick about what constitutes Consevatism.
True Conservaties would probably applaud the SC judges, love God and worry about the C of C corporist types who will fund and own Cruz.
True conservatives do not like free trade, but fair trade, do not adore profit over all, but a just profit. True conservatives understand that weakening the middle class destroys a country. Almost the entire political class disses the middle class.
LOL. And hes going to do lot of right things and its going to be Yuuuuugggggeeeeee
...Conservatives can no longer puff Trump without harming their own domains. Hmm. Early on, Rush said that Trump was not a conservative, but an "American", so I think Rush at least acknowledged he is ready to support any anti-establishment candidate. And even if Trump should win, there will be plenty of opposition to government change for decades to come. The MSM will still be out there fighting back like they did with Reagan. So I have faith that there will still be plenty of topics for conservatives and right-leaning independents to get worked up about. The radio conservatives will still have plenty of opportunity to get their listeners' blood circulating faster without ever stepping one foot in a gym :-) |
.
You are correct, I never heard Rush call Trump (nor McCain, nor Romney) a conservative.
That is for the “hold your nose” day after we allow the primary to be lost.
We have to learn from our mistakes.
.
You must have no idea what a conservative is.
Cruz is a real conservative that believes in Godly government, and the rights that were supposedly protected by the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights.
He has fought for, and won the protection of those rights in the SCOTUS.
No other candidate has, nor do they even believe in them.
.
Thank you, and also for getting and explaining me so well. An honor to make your acquaintance.
Cruz is a brilliant lawyer and a professed Christian, both of which are admirable.
However, Cruz was obligated to argue the side he did at the SCOTUS. Had he been obligated to argue the other side he would have done and brilliantly also. He is a lawyer and so obligated in the positions he held at the time.
Careful, Mark, once you go Beck ...
.
Are you really that stupid?
Cruz fought the fight he has believed in all of his life.
Check out his work in private practice, then get back to us.
.
Sarright!
Five of his six years in private practice were representing corporate clients. No surprise there huh?
The rest of his distinquished legal work was done in the political appointment or elective arena where he was supposed to do cases from a political perspective.
Love him in general. But he just does not
have that passion for the American everyday person which is what we need right now.
A seasoned conservative thinker usually becomes acutely aware of the need to protect the whole of society, including corporations by protecting and empowering a vigorous and free middle class. Increases in H visas and mor “freetrade” fail at that.
Bunk!
His mother was too young as per statute to confer citizenship to her offspring. Who would know this better than the great defender of the Constitution, Mark Levin. But no, he wouldn't even discuss this. He wouldn't even allow anyone to even discuss this issue even though it was quite a topic for discussion amongst the news media and the web.
As stated above, Levin might not have seen this as a legitimate issue. Second, such a debate would probably be a ratings killer. Every talk show host knows that there are certain topics which although some might be passionate about, many don't care and will change stations if the topic is discussed. Try to raise those issues and you'll be quickly cut off.
More bunk!
It was what people were talking about at the time. Levin chose to cut off debate. Check that, Levin censored any debate on his show and was so thin-skinned about criticism, purged his web site and social media accounts of such criticism. What a spineless wimp.
Go back under your rock Levin.
You're responding to something other than what I laid out. As I stated and you didn't quote, if Levin believed Obama was born in Hawaii, his mother's age was not an issue. The age requirement only applies to births outside of the U.S.
Levin wasn't the only talk show host who would not discuss the Obama birth situation.
Yes! And don't you find that to be a little bit strange?
Rush, Laura, Hannity ... all deathly silent on the issue. My God it was if someone told them all to not mention this issue period. And they all dutifully complied. Who told them to? Do you realize that if this issue was discussed thoroughly, Obama may not have even made to the WH?
Levin had the opportunity and the Legal Foundation to carry this discussion forward. But he wimped out. And that is being kind. Can you imagine what the world would be like if Obama had never become President? If anything, it certainly would be a much better, more peaceful place.
So tell that so-called great defender of the Constitution that he failed miserably. It tough to get anything done when you are hiding under your bed.
All probably realized that it was a ratings killer. The reason that these three are among the ratings leaders is that each has a good instinct about what interests listeners. Several less-popular talk show hosts tried the topic and it really went no where.
Do you realize that if this issue was discussed thoroughly, Obama may not have even made to the WH?
I doubt it myself. I would guess that the previously-mentioned talk show hosts probably concluded the same thing. Why ruin your ratings for a topic that probably isn't go to go anywhere?
Bunk!!!
This issue is still being discussed to this day!!! Ratings killer? My azz! Their ratings would have exploded.
Why are ALL of Obama’s records sealed?? Is there something there? You bet there is.
Levin et al. could have effectively carried this ball forward but they chose to put their collective tails between their legs and maybe they’ll be able to continue to sell a few more books or more tea or children’s books or stuffed animals ...
Get your head out of the sand.
Whatever. I'll trust their instincts a lot more than yours.
So you admit that if it was all about the ratings the it must be all about the sale of books, all about the sale of tea, all about the sale of children's books and stuffed animals.
Suffice it to say that I would not like to be trapped in a foxhole with coward Mark Levin. The sound of his incessant whimpering and crying would be maddening.
