That sucks. One of the great British character actors. He did the whole spectrum from Hans in “Die Hard” to Colonel Brandon in “Sense and Sensibility”.

He was on screen for the briefest of moments in 1982's Smiley's People opposite Alec Guinness. That may have been his first screen credit.

Me and the wife watched a movie on HBO last week with Rickman and Kate Winslet. She was a landscape gardener in 1700s France and Rickman was King. Can't recall the name of the movie but Rickman's acting was enjoyable as always. RIP Mr. Rickman.

Ping to you because of your posts on this thread (see below for link) about Snape and Rickman. I remembered someone on a thread was a Rickman fan, but just couldn’t recall the FR name. Did a Google search and found it.

Thought I recognized that name when I saw this.
It’s sad ... perhaps to us Xers who don’t remember what/how our parents felt when it was Bogey and Bacall.
Nobody’s getting younger in this world, even us. Soon, we’ll be reading about Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder, Steve Martin, Bernadette Peters, and many others who it will seem like, “weren’t they just young?”
As we forget that yes, they were just young in that movie we watched the other night ... that was filmed in 1973.
And the world still turns.

Wasn't he another anti-Israel lefty?
I remember him most as the "alien" in Galaxy Quest.

Lost way too many awesome people the last couple of weeks. I haven’t finished processing the loss of Lemmy yet, need this to slow down.
