ROP, one great bad guy.
Loved that P7-M13 pistol he had in Die Hard

He also had a great stage career. I first saw him in the early 80s at Stratford in small Shakespearean roles. I knew he was going to be a star. I recommend The Barchester Chronicles for his star-making tv performance as the nasty but hilarious Mr. Slope (nee Slop). It’s available on Amazon.

Personally, I liked him as the voice of "Marvin the Robot" in Hitchhiker's Guide.

Not much of a movie, but that bit was well-cast. In fact, I heard him voicing Marvin as I was reading the book (well before the movie came out....).

Rather like Sean Connery as Ramius in "Hunt for Red October". Watched it and said, "Yep, that's how I pictured the book."

One of my favorite actors. I loved him in Galaxy Quest, Blow Dry, Something the Lord Made, CBGB and Snow Cake. Especially his characters that exhibited a resigned or world-weary cynicism or acceptance of life as it imperfectly is. May he rest in peace and may his loved ones have some serenity in this trying time for them.

Played one heckuva villain, a talent few actors have. And few could pull off the effete snob as well as he.
