Arch Coal, the second largest coal company in America and the operator of the Black Thunder mine near Wright, filed for bankruptcy Monday.
Arch was also the third largest taxpayer in Wyoming during 2014 when the company paid $1.1 billion in taxes.

Obama’s war on coal claims another victim.
FUBO!! One year left for this Marxist/fascist traitor.
Prayers for my Father in Law, who has been with the company for some 20 years or so. He’s been worried about this for some time. Thanks, obunghole!
I am sure China will be along presently to buy them out.
Hillary will sell it to the Russians for a small donation.
But on the positive side, part time fast food jobs are still available.
High fives among the ruling class in DC.
I’m sure lots of people there have made millions by selling coal operators short.
I just pray that he is not replaced with a marxist/fascist traitor named Hillary.
Buggy Whip maker files for bankruptcy protection.
Whalebone Corset plant lays off workers.
I remember a story about a nearby small scale coal plant closing at the end of 2015, due to new regulations they couldn’t meet. I assume dozens of such small plants closed down.
Some are not that small. The EPA is messing with electrical generation reserve capacity. And not in a good way.
So we close coal fired plants, then refuse to allow reliable sources of power to be built like nuclear or gas and instead build a solar farm in New England where their is very little sun in the winter. Sounds like a plan to me. /s
Praying most Americans are totally fed-up with these Marxist losers.
0Muslim's War on Wyoming...
Surely you jest.
Arch was a big deal in E. Ky at one time, employed probably a 1000 men directly or indirectly. Strange to me to find out that Arch was able to mine with no reclamation bonds, they used to have to be put up in cash by the little guys. Guess there is always 2 sets of rules. These same type stories of bk’s and layoffs are going on each week in Ky. It is not just a down market, you can lay it at the feet of Obama.
These are national security issues.
And it's obvious treason by our putative "leaders". They're leaving us open to foreign enemies like China and ISIS. And it appears to be on purpose.
Many coal fired plants were told to switch to nat gas if possible or the regs against coal use would bk them. They are shutting down as quick as they can. When oil and nat gas come back folks will be begging for the coal to come back on line, but it won’t be possible.
