Vanity: The Trump Problem?
Self | 1/11 | Me

Posted on 01/11/2016 11:57:21 AM PST by TangledUpInBlue

I consider myself to work with plenty of smart people. Some staunch conservatives, others moderate. But being that this is a financial business, most are not liberal.

So the following came up at lunch today with a person recently away from news on vacation.

Person: Anything exciting happen with Trump? Me: Not really Person: I can't believe he's still around Me: Why? Person: He's so obnoxious. You wouldn't vote for him would you? Me: Of course. 7 days a week if he's against Hillary. Person: If it's the two of them, I'm not voting.

What do you think? Isn't this a real problem? A lower turnout can only help the Beast.

Keep in mind that if Trump wins the nomination, its not because he was crowbarred in place by the GOPe. It will be because he got overwhelming support from the VOTERS.

I hope people reconsider withholding their vote for him in the general. He may not be your favorite candidate but he is not a liberal or bought and paid for elite like Jeb, Rubio, Christie, Hillary, Bernie etc.

If Cruz wins nomination, I will vote for and support him even though I don’t think he is the best candidate at this time.

Trump is not a liberal. He may have held some left leaning views over the years but has also held very conservative views. He has also been a patriot the whole time, always wanting to do good things for the country.

A lot of you folks have been so cowed by political correctness, that you clutch your pearls every time you hear Trump speak the truth unapologetically!

Words and actions are different items.

As for TV, I have had cable in my home for perhaps four of the past 40 years, since I turned 18 and moved out on my own. I have only had at best broadcast TV, rarely watched.

Why do you suppose remakes of classic literature such as Pride and Prejudice or Romeo and Juliet transcend the centuries and are very successfully (and repeatedly) updated and told in modern context, though the story is ancient? As contemporary today as they were a few hundred, or even a few thousand years ago to we human beings?

Because HUMAN NATURE is what calls the shots, although the words used to describe the behaviors may change.

I'm craving the benefits of electing a limited government candidate who will make it so Christianity is legal again.

LOL.

The NFL may have gone soft.

Trump’s USFL went under.

Trump spoke a BIG FAT LIE a few days ago when he said, and I quote: "Now Ted just switched his views on ethanol. He was totally against ethanol, now all the sudden he's for it, you know, it' s Iowa and he's for it."

You can see for yourself Trump boldly and blatantly lying 5:52 seconds into the video at therightscoop.com (I seem to have problems linking it), look for the story "Trump Says He's Surprised with How Well Ted Cruz is Doing."

WHO is cowed by political correctness, toona?

I agree on the citizenship thing. We have 300 million people and 2 of the candidates in the race have questionable citizenship, and the other, Jeb, wants to be a Mexican. WTF?

Trump is full blooded American, played baseball and was recruited to 2 pro teams in high school but refused. He has always lived in America and has been amazingly successful. He has supported veterans causes for decades! How many liberals support the military? None!

He believes that America should be strong and has said this since the 80’s, mainly talking about the economy, but more recently recognizing the border issues as a big part of the problem too.

‘Take a bow, you and every one who sits at home this time around, are the ones who gave us Obama.’

Nothing infuriates me more than ‘principled’ non-participation. The enemy of my enemy is a friend indeed when in need. Those of you who did not vote against the Usurper for what ever reason, regardless of how valid, brought this Republic to the edge of extinction. You bastards. Had we not worked with Russia, most of the world would be speaking German. You noble and principled jerks gave all us four more years of ‘fundamental change’. Four more years of race baiting antics. Four more years of Arab Spring. You gift wrapped Iran a nuclear program. You created Europe-istan, need I go on?
If you don’t vote, then STFU.

The thing with Trump is, it’s the first time that political correctness has been challenged - and that’s the necessary first step.

I want Trump for that alone.

If it’s Republicans who don’t vote, then yes, it will help the Democrats. And yes, this is a real problem.

Ask Mitt Romney.

Trump will make up for the lack of Republican voters with Democrat voters.

“None of them have ever watched a Trump speech I’d bet.”

You are probably right. Nor did they bother to watch the interviews available of Trump from back in the 80’s and 90’s plainly showing his conservative views.

I will vote for the Republican nominee, period. I really believe if someone professes to be a conservative and does not vote Republican, they obviously really prefer Hitlery or Bernie.

This is an election, candidates are all going to call each other out on issues and sometimes exaggerate. Who cares! Ethanol subsidies are #15255 on the list of things that are important! Fix your skirt and have a drink, it will be ok if Trump wins.

Have media attacks helped or hurt Trump?

The Media is running the same playbook against Trump that they ran against Sarah Palin. I know because I chronicled the attacks of that first six weeks after she was nominated VP in 2008.

The Usual Suspects are in evidence, of course - but what's REALLY interesting is that commentators who appeared to be "Republican", "Right", "conservative", etc. are revealing themselves to be something else quite entirely.

It's turns out they're Uniparty - part of the ruling structure in Washington.

And Trump is a major threat to their cozy little Washington Status Quo.

And to make things worse, even though they don't understand how it happened, he's Their Daddy.

All those years when he was hanging out, making money doing goofy Donald Trump stuff - WWE, The Apprentice, and all the wheeling-dealing and schmoozing - he was slowly becoming Their Daddy, and they didn't even notice - until now.

That's why they're flipping out. They're trying their usual moves that make anyone else grovel & apologize [except Palin and a few like her], and IT'S BOUNCING OFF.

Trump p0wns them - all of them. He's Their Daddy.

In the end, when Palin didn't bow & grovel like she was supposed to, they played the "Palin Is Stupid" card. It worked, because she was a relative unknown at the time.

They're trying to play the same card on Trump, now, in desperation, but it's not working because Trump is a long-known quantity, and it's hard to call someone who's got a billion dollars or so that he got through well-known public business dealings "stupid". Though they're trying their damndest, I'll give them that much.

But they're finding out who Their Daddy is.

Trump's their Daddy. :)

==========================

To answer your question, I provided the context, and now I'll answer it:

Media attacks have HELPED Trump - though they were NOT meant to. Trump was supposed to have been "taken out" months ago.

Fortunately, I was able to explain to you why that didn't happen.

If all the people who said in January 1980 that the would never vote for Ronald Reagan carried throough in November, he would have been crushed.

But that’s not what happened.

The polls don’t matter. The campaign matters.

And, after Labor Day, I believe you will see a masterful campaign. AND, Trump is not losing 32-62 as Reagan was at this point.

One caution: I do not believe Hillary will be the nominee. It’s important not to sell Trump as the alternative to Hillary too soon - because that can be answered by nominating someone else.

But then, that’s covered by the Art of the Deal.

Raven, you have put my thoughts into words, great post! Cruz or Trump!

If Romney won, we would not have scores of communists in the white house at least.

So much more morally superior than us schlumps, so much more principled than we, so much more caring for the country than we, so much more intelligent than we, so much more perceptive than we, so much more of a true conservative.

We don't need them - Trump is going to bring out the Reagan Democrat vote, and perhaps a significant portion of the black vote.

You joined just after The March. I'd say you're more of a true conservative than some.

The johnnie-come-laters don't remember how we had to duke it out with the Media in the early days.

Conservatism will only become ascendant after the pernicious influence of The Media is destroyed.

My guy Trump is taking care of that little detail as we speak. :)

There is one difference. I doubt Bernnie Sanders gave $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel.

People with conservative views do not donate $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel.

Obviously, you've never been in business.

There were customers that I detested in various businesses I've worked at, yet I had to put on the pleasant face for them, in order to "do business".

You can't be a "purist" behind the counter - unless you don't care if there's a counter there next year, and you find that your business has been absorbed by that nation-wide chain - "Space Available".
