A herd of elk was hit by a train east of Helena Thursday morning, killing 23 animals.
The crash occurred near the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 and Spokane Creek Road, about three miles east of East Helena.

The oldest but deafest elk said the the young stags, put your ears to the track to see if a train is coming.
That how he got to be the oldest stag.
Was a short time Hardscrabble resident before moving and coming back further south.
Had a beautiful view of the valley, part of the airport, Fort Harrison and a section of the RR.
