On a visit to the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 2005, Jackson Lee made embarrassing news by asking if the Mars Pathfinder had taken an image of the flag planted there in 1969 by Neil Armstrong.[2]
Prior to the 110th Congress, Jackson Lee served on the House Science Committee and on the Subcommittee that oversees space policy and NASA.

Will our tax dollars subsidize this endeavor like we do Tesla Motors?

Can’t help but wonder if Musk intentionally chose that name because it harkens back to the “Colonial Movers” ship from Battlestar Galactica.
I think it involves shrinking people down to microscopic size to reduce overhead.
Musk wouldn’t be anywhere without the tax dollars that was handed over to him. Give anyone billions and they could create something. By the way how many Teslas have been sold to the masses?
If you can’t do anything worth a damn on Earth, head for Mars.
Makes sense to me.
We need Government Employees sent to Mars NOW to Terraform the planet!
Boy, that would be cool
This is so stupid. I have extensive plans and ideas regarding the colonization of space, and Mars is not even on the low priority list. Struggling to get out of one gravity well simply so you can drop into another gravity well is a brain-dead use of resources.
Mars ain’t no kind of place to raise your kids. . . .
(Can’t believe it took this long for someone to post that.)
Very impressive. He’s solved the problem with space radiation, lack of gravity, water and air, and a host of other glitches.
How nifty is that. /s
