I put some furniture up for sale on Craigslist. Now I have someone texting me from Vermont (I live in Georgia) wanting to buy sight unseen, claiming to be a flight attendant who is away most of the time but will send a pickup agent as soon as we complete the transaction via PayPal. It seems pretty obvious that it's a scam but it must work some percentage of the time because they keep trying it.
Meet me in the local police station parking lot. It’s under video servalince.
Discribe the vehicle you will be driving and plate number.
How many people are there going to be in you party.
Describe yourself.
Cash only. No hundred dollar bills.
Daylight hours only and don’t arrive early, I will
wait 15 minunits and then I leave and the deal is off for that day or forever.Your choice.
I tell them the vehicle I will be driving, my description and that I will not be alone.
I don’t tell them I’m armed and I assume they are.
If it doesn’t look or feel right I walk into the cop shop and my buddy get in the car and drives off.
So far I haven’t had a problem. I’m just selling cars.
So am I being paranoid or just prudent?
Watch out for Paypal - I keep getting emails from âthemâ saying my account is about to be closed unless I contact them right away - I never had a Paypal account
I get them all the time in my junk email account, I’ve never had pay pal either.
So am I being paranoid or just prudent?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Sometimes it is prudent to be paranoid.
you look up the cure on another computer. two pages of steps. but DEFINITELY fixable.
and now they re so bad that all you have to do is usually reboot :)
I guess they got lazy.
my nephew called me all freaked out a few months ago about going to the FBI. Guess what he was looking at?
I told him look up the fix on another computer and go to confession :)
he had to ask his girlfriend to fix it!! how embarrassing is that ,considering the topic.
now they threaten to send all the websites you visited to everyone you know on facebook. I thin one many actually killed himself over it. perhaps gay websites were involved. Don’t quote me on that. my memory isn’t what it was.
Let me guess. This person wants you to remove the ad, and will be sending you a certified check by UPS or FEDEX. They also want to send a shipper, and you are to pay the shipping with part of the money from the check, and send any remaining back to the buyer?
