NEWARK - A skirmish broke out between rival activists on the steps of City Hall Wednesday during what had been intended as a demonstration against violence in Newark.
Police were called to the scene after a small crowd began arguing over escalating violence and the city's attempts to curb it.
The noon press conference was called by a group of activists led by Salaam Ismial, co-chair of the New Jersey Study Commission on Violence, and Abdul Muhammad, a longtime Newark anti-violence activist. In a release announcing the event, the two said they planned to ask Mayor Ras Baraka to "unleash his quality of life plan in addressing ongoing violence facing Newark residents."

Sigh.
Not to mention precious bodily fluids
Over $$$$$ or ‘tootie’, no doubt.
Now you know why black lives allegedly matter.
When BLM protesters make it impossible for the police to do their job in urban neighborhoods, that’s who’s going to take over policing.
you can’t even make this stuff up with these idiots.
Could it be our long national nightmare has ended?
"I won second prize in a contest, and my prize was a two-week trip to Newark. The winner's prize was one week!"
Hold on, it seems a bit inconsistent at this point...
you can’t even make this stuff up with these idiots.
I thought those squiggly things only happened on copy and paste posts, not on originals.
.
Hmmm. OK, my bad.

The outcome was unexpected. /s
"The only way this would be more ironic is if the fight happened outside of a Friendly's."
Went to college in Newark for 4 years, and worked in the city for 20 years afterward.
I left 19 years ago—it was a craphole then.
It has been on a steady downward spiral since the 1967 riots. The white folks left in droves, and that was that.
The education system has been under State of NJ control for 20 years—20 years!
No improvement in sight.
Hundreds of millions of Federal and private aid over the years—all down the drain.
And don’t be caught there when the sun goes down—the real fun begins then.
When I was a student, I was late one day, and so I parked on the street instead of on campus. Of course someone stole my car battery—these were the days before hood locks. So I called our school security office and asked for a jump.
The guy came out and said I can’t jump this—there is no battery! I said just let me hook up the cables to the existing ones, the car started, I wrapped the cable ends in cloths and got home and put in a new battery.
If I left the car there overnight, it would have been a stripped down hulk when the sun came up the next morning.
