Bill Cosby was charged Wednesday with felony assault over an alleged encounter with a woman 12 years ago.
"We are here to announce today charges that have just been filed against William Henry Cosby. These charges stem from a sexual assault that took place on an evening in early 2004," Montgomery County district attorney Kevin Steel said in a press conference. "Mr. Cosby is charged with aggravated indecent assault. This is a felony charge."
Cosby is expected to be arraigned on the charge this afternoon in Elkins Park, Pa.

That's true, but ...
1. This is a criminal case, not a civil lawsuit.
2. As far as I know, the only practical reason for the SOL to be tolled in a case like this would be if the perpetrator had left the country for an extended period of time. The SOL is automatically tolled if the defendant is out of the jurisdiction of the U.S. courts.
“Good luck proving a he said/she said case from 12 years ago.”
Not necessarily, because Bill Cosby went on record during an interview/s with the law enforcement authorities while the case was still relatively fresh. Consequently, evidence was secured while before it could become compromised by the passage of time. Taken in context with the latest revelations, this earlier evidence may become presented as a pattern of behavior that includes Bill Cosby’s own admissions on the tape recorded and notarized interviews by law enforcement.
It certainly will - the parallesl are inescapable and Trump will be sure to point them out to all the media that will do their best to “escape “ them.
Spare me the Cosby apologies.
His act was always clean and respectable and offered a solid family example to African Americans.
Sad to see one of the greats fall. :(
Do I believe that the accusations are true. Yes.
“That’s true, but ... “
It will be interesting to see how they deal with the Statute of Limitations. The situation also raises the question of whether or not the prosecution is designed to deliberately fail in order to remove the threat of such a future prosecution by an authority hostile to Bill Cosby. Another angle is to see if the prosecution is designed to be completed with a conviction before Obama must leave office as the President, so he can pardon Bill Cosby.
Bill “acted a little too ‘white’” over the years. That’s his problem.

Does anyone know if this is the same woman who accused him and got a settlement in civil court?

“How in the heck do you prove something that a victim says happened many years ago?”
With evidence beyond a reasonable doubt in the form of Bill Cosby’s earlier interview statements to law enforcement authorities in which he acknowledged using drugs to incapacitate women. Also the witness testimonies of third parties describing Cosby’s doing so with other women, corroborating Cosby’s interview statements with respect to the plaintiff’s complaint.
WMAL said the 12 year SOL was weeks from running out.
When you say african-Americans, do you mean black. By the way I’m a European-American.
WMAL says the 12 year SOL was just about to run out.
That explains the selective outrage.
“Witnesses? Evidence? He said-she said?”
At the time Cosby was interviewed by police officers and admitted to using a drug/s in the plaintiff’s drink. He tried to spin the story to make it look innocent enough to skate on any efforts to charge him under a presumption of reasonable doubt. Much of that reasonable doubt has since been blown to pieces by the phenomenal number of women who have come forward publicly and involuntarily and privately during police investigations to give witness testimony of similar drugs and rape incidents establishing a pattern of behavior.
