PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon bakery owners who denied service to a same-sex couple have paid $135,000 in state-ordered damages — after refusing to do so for nearly six months.

The Bureau of Labor and Industries says Aaron Klein, co-owner of the Portland-area bakery, dropped off a check Monday for $136,927.07. That includes accrued interest. Klein also paid $7,000 earlier this month.

Nothing new for communists run America. This will never stop until Trump makes necessary correction giving rights back to business to refuse to sell.

This is political extortion. It is worthy of a banana republic. What have we become?

We’ve become an extortion- based banana republic (ask anyone in the automotive, financial, etc industries too). Headed up by a corrupt islamonazi enemy agent saboteur. Or something like that. I’ll leave it to more sophisticated FRers to polish that up

Trump will know enough to ignore the Supreme Court and then challenge the judges to go ahead and try to enforce their rulings. It’ll be sweet to see judicial tyranny ended.

The illusion promoted is precisely that. Gay marriage won a plurality in only 2 states by 51% and was beyond rejected everywhere else. It was the liberal progressive approach of oppressive government (of by and for their world view) that they used the legislatures against the will of the people (MA, NY, CT, ME to name a few) and still in others the activist judge shopped for.

They claimed, if I am correct, to have suffered something like 465 defined injuries to their persons. Some injuries contradicted other opposite injuries. The court did not require proof or explanation of any injuries.

Remember the two Muslims who were fired because they refused to deliver beer due to their religion? The Feds stepped in to help them in their legal action and awarded a lot of cash.

It didn’t do anything to the 1st. They waived that right when they applied to the state for a license to enjoy the privileges and benefits of baking under the wing of the state.

Take a few hours to read the associated law and regulation and things one agrees to when getting permission to earn a living under a state sanctioned cartel (and that’s exactly what it is in a nutshell). It’s so massively complicated and ratholed you’d need a week of research to know for sure what one is obligating themselves to, and no one does that, they just sign and pay the fees and get working...

Damages? What damage was done? Certainly not $135,000 plus! I had a red-light >>>> I believe the article is badly recorded crap. the money as i recollect, were administrative fines. by The Bureau of Labor and Industries. not sure if these fines actually go to the gay couple. it’s a sharia type court. not article three.

Galling that this could not be fought out on Constitutional grounds. Bad precedent set.>>> not an article three court. administrative court. like sharia or IRS. Govt says your bad pay up.

This was never in front of a judge it was an ‘administrator’.>>> i thot they use a fake judge in an administrative court (call it a court to deceive everyone. i could be wrong) correct in that it is administrative not article three. it would take a revolution to move it to article three.

I would have demanded an appeal before a jury of my peers. >>>
denied constitution doesn’t apply in an administrative court.

My guess is that in order to move forward with an appeal, they had to front the initial fine. Horrific, considering that they should be innocent until proven finally “guilty,” but such is the state of this Fascist regime.

They are still appealing but in the mean time are paying the damages to avoid further penalties

It would be sweet if they were forced to repay them the monies they extorted out of them.

I would have demanded an appeal before a jury of my peers.

Appeals are heard by appellate courts, not juries.
