The title is basic click bait FUD, as the rest of the article does not support the title, going on instead to tell why it's not true, listing TEN reasons why Apple will be successful in the coming year.

Of course its click-bait.

They dare publish something that wasn’t praising Apple to the heavens, so its pure FUD.

The FUD brigade has a franchise on this sort of nonsense and they peddle the same story every year. It's the time of the year where every armchair prognosticator gets to play swami to pad column-inches in an otherwise slow news season.

Things we can have confidence of seeing from Apple in 2016 include: Apple Watch 2, iOS 10, OS X 10.12, iPhone 7, and probably some refreshes across the board in the Mac line. Apple Pay should really start taking off internationally and some compelling apps should start to show up on Apple TV. Hardly the stuff of a "down" year.

Phones are a dead end. IOS is too light to go much further. Apple has no future. 220 billion tells the tale. Automobile? Hire Tesla employees who made that piece of crap. Battery cars loose over half their value in 3 years.

Despite a ClickBait FUD Title, the article is actually pretty good, listing TEN reasons why Apple will be successful in the coming year. The Title and the Lede are irrelevant to the story itself and were there to cause people to click on the article. Negativity sells. -- PING!

It's obvious you did not even bother to read the article. There are TEN reasons listed in the article why the headline is WRONG. That is why the HEADLINE is click bait FUD. The main thrust of the article DENIES the main point of the headline. That is very definition of click bait, VanDeKoik. Negativity sells. . . and negative headlines about Apple garner far more clicks than do positive headlines about Apple. That is just a fact. Editors know this and will prefer a negative slanted headline however they can pull one out of an article, no matter what because the point is to get eye on the advertising on their pages.

Why do they need sales ? They just extorted 500m out of Samsung. When that money begins to run out, they can make another against Samsung.

Look it boils down to some guy thinking Apple will sell less stuff, and you freaking out as usual.

It’s just his opinion. Like what do you want FR to do, shoot him?

Naw, Swordmaker just posts this stuff so all of the Applephobes can gather and waste a metric sh**potfull of bandwidth demonstrating their sterling grasp of all things spoken, written or merely dragged out of purest fantasy.

Do I really need to add the /sarc, or did you happen upon the point all by yourself?

They did just make a request for more money from Samsung, because Samsung stole Apple's intellectual property, which was confirmed in judgements against Samsung. Intellectual property is something Apple makes a lot of money on, licensing it to others when they choose to share it.

Aside from that, Apple is flush with money. Do you think they are really concerned with lower sales in any category, when the remaining sales far out-sale the competition in profits? Lower sales do not have the impact you think they do, because Apple contracts other companies to manufacturer many components; those same companies that make products for many other tech companies like Samsung, Lenovo, HP, etc. Those companies are the ones that are impacted, not Apple. Those manufacturing companies may take a licking, but Apple keeps ticking. Last time I looked, their stores are still full of customers buying lots of products, something the competition continues to envy.

Phones are a dead end? Says who? You? Apple is just entering India, a country with 900 million potential customers. 30% of the customers for new iPhones come from previous Android users, which means a wide open market as far as Apple is concerned.

"Hire Tesla employees. . . " The only one making that claim is Elon Musk, with sour grape negative marketing moves, and no evidence. Apple has hired some of the top designers in the world from many automobile companies and other tech companies in the appropriate technologies. One of the most recent was a top designer from BMW.

Apple has dropped $200 Billion in market value at least three times in the last two years and regained it just as fast. The fact is that this was not a $220 Billion drop except for deliberate selection of dates to look at instead of the drop from the most recent high, which honest analysts would use and count only a $150 Billion loss, It is a meaningless number as the value is only on paper until any stock holding is sold. . . and since it isn't being sold, no one took a loss unless they panicked. What it REALLY means is a buying opportunity to acquire more AAPL at a bargain price. I am.

"Battery Car"? No one says that Apple is making a "battery" car except pundits who know nothing except the inventory of their own navels. Any automobile Apple may be working on could be powered by squirrels chasing acorns on a treadmill for all they know for sure. For example, Apple has a patent on a dry fuel technology that produces hydrogen safely that looks quite interesting. Perhaps Apple will be harnessing that. Perhaps not. Maybe Apple has perfected huge rubber bands.

Apple and the Internal Combustion Engine? AlGore must be puking his guts out. Well I guess not, that hypocrite will take money from anyone.

What’s coming out next year? Add USB-C to the macbook pro? A bit late to the market for that.

A watch you can work with your nose?

More bad news to come I’m afraid. Innovation is not their strong point anymore. Just one lame thing after another.

Oh! I forgot, the pregnant iPhone attachment to make up for their poor battery life.

I thought 2015 was supposed to be the retrenching solidify the existing products year. Fail!!! 2016 will be the retrenching solidify year.

Why do they need sales ? They just extorted 500m out of Samsung. When that money begins to run out, they can make another against Samsung.

Extorted? What planet do you live on when the US Justice system rightly awards a victim compensation from a THIEF and you call it extortion? This has gone all the way through three levels of appeal and will most likely be denied appeal to the US Supreme Court because there is no question of law for them to decide they have not already decided. Samsung copied patented and copyrighted intellectual property. It is NOT the first time that Samsung has been found liable for doing the same thing. Pioneer Stereo receivers? Dyson Vacuums? Even washing machines. For years it has been Samsung's business model.

The courts determined that Samsung owed Apple the profits they made by stealing the patented designs Apple had invented. Apple even won a patent infringement case against Samsung in a Korean Court three years ago.

Apple's operating profits from sales just last quarter alone was $7.7 BILLION. Samsung's operating profit from sales was $6.42 BILLION which included everything they do, such as ship building, chip fab, televisions, household appliances, as well as their overwhelming market share of cellular phones. That is why Apple has sales.

Samsung sues as well. . . but they sued Apple over a Standards Essential Patents (SEPs) which is impermissible in Europe but allowed in the USA, and almost was fined their entire world wide 2013 profits by the European equivalent of the US International Trade Commission for attempting to use SEPs against Apple in a licensing dispute lawsuit claiming Apple was infringing their patents when they jacked up their rate demands far greater than the Fair Reasonable And Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) licensing rates they had agreed to when they put their patents into the cellular phone patent pool and signed the agreements. They avoided that by quickly settling with Apple for normal FRAND rates. . . and the European authorities dropped their action and announced fines totaling over $18 BILLION!

It would help if you understood what you are posting FUD about, but you really don't.

No, VandeKoik, it boils down to an article that has exactly the OPPOSITE opinion being tagged with a false FUD headline, as usual, and YOU not even bothering to read the actually quite FACTUAL article which COUNTERS that position before you weigh in backing the FUD headline without bothering to read what the article actually says. Typical.

Try reading the actual article for comprehension VanDeKoik, instead of assuming the position of the author is found in the headline. You seem to emulate a know-nothing Liberal when you do that.

The author of the article lists TEN REASONS why such a conclusion is wrong. Would you not call that headline then a bait and switch fraud?

Only in what you mistakenly think is your own mind. . . because you don't seem to use your head for thinking, just emotional reaction.

Please, spare me.

I've been working with computers since sometime before dirt, only follow these threads to TRY to get some up-to-date information on the various flavors currently in vogue and the only reason I posted is that I'm 'way past fed up with wading through the merde that seems to follow any mention of (dare I speak the word) Apple.

It's a damn TOOL, and all of this rubbish keeps getting spouted on these threads (as well as the others, 'cause I've seen the same sh** there) doesn't do a thing but distract, waste time and bandwidth and generally do nothing but play "Hey Look At Me" for the foolish.

You may as well post about how you absolutely detest Ajax Crowbars.

(Okay, that's more than I've posted ANYWHERE for the past six months and I've got some paint that I need to watch while it dries. Knock yourself out.)
