Bright lights strung on American trees, rooftops and lawns account for 6.63 billion kilowatt hours of electricity consumption every year, according to a recent blog post by the Center for Global Development.
That's more than the national electricity consumption of many developing countries. El Salvador for one, uses 5.35 billion kilowatt hours, while Ethiopia consumes 5.30 billion and Tanzania 4.81 billion.

Either Americans are special, and deserve everything they have
Or the rest of the world is just to incompetent or mismanaged to get it.
either way - Its not my problem.

I’m surprised this spin on Guilt Trips has not been tried before , and on a large scale, with permits, fees and fines.

We need that photograph of North Korea again.

I get so sick of these Commie scolds. If they like the third-world lifestyle so much, they should move there!

Of course they use third world garbage countries as Ethiopia and El Salvador as a comparison. Sorry, there’s a reason we’re a first world country and those two countries are barely feeding themselves. I wish all these guilt ridden white liberals would just go live in those countries, but of course without their Starbucks lattes every morning they wouldn’t last a day.

Has this author ever done the electricity usage on Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen——or is it just another slam at American Christians?
Dumb article.

So if I don’t string those little lights, Ethiopia will get more? No? Then why are we having this conversation?

El Salvador for one, uses 5.35 billion kilowatt hours I suspect el Salvadore has North Korea beat by a mile... if it wasn't for el Salvadorans hogging up all the kilowatts the North Koreans could have nice things, like, oh... flashlights to light their way to the privy at night.
