Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens is now playing. Those who have seen it, let's discuss! Those who haven't seen it, hit your back button now.
Harrison Ford first got the part because he just happened to be on the set (as a carpenter) and the actor playing Han was missing during rehearsal, so Lucas had did read the lines to fill in - and liked him so much he replaced the other. So Ford took the job as his big break.
...
Really? I thought it was because Harrison Ford was in American Graffiti. Mark Hamill auditioned for American Graffiti, but wasn’t in it.
Ren is going to turn out to be someone’s daughter.
Ford was in GRAFITTI and on friendly terms with Lucas. Right place, right time.
For Star Wars Lucas took a cut in his director’s fee in exchange for merchandising and other rights.
Best. Decision. Ever.
The others didn’t surprise me much.
The last point looked great but required deliberate & almost painful suspension of disbelief. I get that she’s a natural, but still did too well against a rising Sith Lord. Granted, he’s a sniveling brat.
It was fun. It’s SW so there’s issues. Looks like they maintained the EU concept that there are a few “big families” that really matter in the galaxy. Which means we’re probably going to find out later Finn is Lando’s kid. Looks like they grabbed a lot of ideas from Thrawn but changed them enough to not have to give Zahn money. Which is probably a good thing, though I’d rather Zahn get more money, he’s a cool guy. It’s good source material though, easily the best books in the EU.
Then puts jar jar binks Reggie Love in as director. And the back story *exclusive* is that 90% of this Star Wars was shot in the back lot of Man's Country in Chicago with Bill Ayers doing some of the last minute script rewrites.
Thanks freepers. I’ll wait until this politically correct turkey is on cable TV.`
Or, you can wait for RedLetterMedia to put out their review on their YouTube channel.
I’m guessing it’ll be out sometime next week.
(At least I hope so. Those guys crack me up.)
Jar Jar Abrams.
DIRECTED BY: Jar Jar Pajama Boy Abrams.
I thought it was mediocrity incarnate. Flat characters with nothing interesting to say going through the motions of a rote ‘Rebels Vs Empire’ narrative. I should point out that the SW films have never done anything for me but I prefer ‘Revenge of the Sith’ to this.
It’s SW, if you don’t like you’re not going to like it. Honestly don’t know why you bothered to watch it, you know you don’t like it, might as well stay away.
Dooohhhh..you spoiled it for me...kidding, not really. I saw it yesterday. What they should have done is killed off Carrie Fisher. She was like a stuffed pillow on camera. Otherwise good flick.
Gee, I hope so.
Ford was old (needed some Grecian formula for that less grey look), but I did get past it. What I could not get past was Carrie Fisher. Talk about not aging well...
He just felt so out of place. So lost. It completely tore down my memory of Han. He went from a hero to some garbage collector. I’m sure some will say it’s intentional but he made you long for the good old days of Star Wars. Just sad really.
I liked ‘Revenge of the Sith’. Sort of. In any case it was better than this film or the original three films which have not held up at all.
ROS was the best of the prequels, but I can prove irrefutably and with one word that it was worse that this movie and the original trilogy:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
