My favorite Christmas song. Darlene always puts her heart out when singing.
Phil Spector was genius with his "wall of sound".
This was the only time I watched Letterman every year, when Darlene was on performing Christmas(Baby please come home)
For me it’s “White Christmas” With Bing singing it.
The PS Wall of sound technique is awesome. Love it. Very hard to do well and get a ‘wall of sound’ that works, rather than audio mud.
But Bob Rivers has some cool Christmas tunes too ;(

I HATE his politics, but like Bruce’s Santa Clause is coming to Town.
that Or All I want for Christmas is you
Well gosh, I never saw that before in my life. Merry Christmas to you, and to all of us.
My fave modern remake Christmas song -
The Decembermen’s version of “I Heard the bells on Christmas Day.”
Well, I guess I’ll throw these out there - what with Erdogan....sigh

I’ll be home for Christmas.

I give credit to Paul Shafer who obviously loves Darlene and to Letterman who over the years made her performance the highlight of his Christmas broadcast. Watch her first appearance back in 1986 with Shafer's much smaller band--Darlene's vocals more than make up for any deficiencies.
Another version with an anachronistic quality to it Blackmore's Night : Christmas Eve
Here is my favorite, featuring a great performance by Barney Frank

Wow, that was great!
