Washington (CNN)Donald Trump has hit a new milestone in national polling, garnering 41% of the Republican vote in a new national poll.

Trump is at 41% in a Monmouth University poll out Monday, holding a wide advantage over his GOP challengers. His support was up from 28% in October.

In second was the rising Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, at 14%; followed by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, at 10%. Ben Carson was at 9%, down 9 points from October, and all other candidates were in the low single digits.

That’s not true. Don’t buy that, you’ll only be disappointed later.

I doubt he lost Rush over a couple of half hearted digs at his closest competitor. LOL!

It's getting closer to reality then smack! ...Only 48 days left then it starts. :-)

I don’t think Rush is pro-Cruz. He may be personally but he’s never showed his hand on the air. He spends most of his time talking about Trump. Well, Trump is a lot of fun.

Haven't listened to Rush in probably ten years.

Mainstream conservatism does not have what it takes to get the job done.

Bet Rush got a lot of...feedback, from the first hour.

Donald McCain is a stupid designation; Trump is the anti-McCain.

Otoh, what Trump said about Scalia was unconscionable. I can more than understand Rush’s umbrage over that one.

Works for me. It’s the best hand that non-liberals have to play.

Rush started out today questioning Trump’s comments about Cruz, though he said he couldn’t remember what Cruz said (in the private meeting, which is an odd thing for Rush to admit), and also for Trump’s disagreement with the purported Scalia commentary regarding blacks performing better is slower-track school programs. El Rushbo was being quite critical of Trump and going on about the Cruz surge in many polls.

Then, Rush discovered the new Monmouth Poll with Trump at 41% and then, shortly after that, the new Quinnipiac Iowa poll with Trump at 28% and Cruz @ 27%...

Today’s polls seemed to cause Rush to do some tap dancing on his earlier comments.

Didn't know Rush "had" him?

He didn't.

Limbaugh on Donald Trump: "Donald Trump is, I think, doing a great service. He is showing that you do not have to fear attacks from the media -- Republicans do not have to fear from attacks from the media. He's showing you do not have to fear being politically correct or violating political correctness."

Limbaugh on Ted Cruz: "Brilliant, and conservative through and through. Trustworthy, strong, confident, leader, and somebody in whom you can totally depend."

Facts:

1) Except in the very odd/exceptional election year of 1964, the Dems haven’t cracked 50% of the whites in a Presidential election since 1932.

2) Once the ‘64 election was over, the Dems understood that they would never win another Presidential election again unless the Republicans REALLY screwed up...or unless they changed the electorate in a dramatic way.

3) The Dems, courtesy of Bobby Kennedy who wrote the law, and Teddy Kennedy who pushed it in the Senate, passed the 1965 Immigration Act. That law dramatically reduced immigration from our then-traditional large sources of immigrants - England, Ireland, Holland, Germany, etc. - and replaced them with vast numbers of Turd Worlders...whom everyone knows vote around 80% for Dems, and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives, as new immigrants have traditionally done.

4) As a result of the ‘65 Act, and due to the Dem’s outright lying in ‘86 regarding an effective (or any) fence, there are now probably 30 - 40 million illegals in this nation. Note that the (probably low-ball) figure in 2005 was 11 million...we have 2-3 million come in every year, so simple math says that the number is actually somewhere between 31 and 41 million). If any substantial portion of these people ever become citizens, then the Dems will have accomplished a complete shift of the electorate, and will be virtually invincible on the national level. Every state will become like California, both politically and economically - which is to say, overwhelming Dem and broke. But at least if you don’t like California now, you can leave for a better place without much trouble - where are you going to go if EVERY state is like that?

5) Every Republican, and every Conservative voter MUST UNDERSTAND that if such a state of affairs comes to be, NO OTHER ISSUE WILL MATTER AT ALL, because we will ALWAYS AND FOREVER lose on those issues. Immigration is THE issue of this election, and this election is as critical as the 1860 election was - and for the same reason, because it will determine whether this nation continues on as it has existed in the past, or becomes a new and unrecognizable entity that simply occupies the same geographic territory.

Please wake up, and help others to do so by sending them this post (or recommending “Adios America” to them). It really is THAT important.

Did he call him Donald McCain? I must have been shopping at the time. I love Rush and he’s allowed to criticize. Criticism is not throwing a candidate under the bus. I don’t agree with everything that Trump has to say. I still support either he or Cruz. I do think Trump has a better shot at bringing more people to him than Cruz but I’m always wrong about politics. I have a horrible record of supporting losers.

Methinks Rush is over thinking this. Trump makes deals. That's his thing. What deals has Cruz made for the country? Listening to Rush repeat his thinking just now on the issue. Not the 1st time I've ever disagreed with Limbaugh. That being said, Go Trump/Cruz 2016!

Why take the bait? It's not that Cruz cannot work with the Democrats, he can not even work with his own side.

Ever wonder why Sessions never endorsed Cruz, but is quick to jump on stage with Trump?

I get that everyone loves what Trumps says. I LOVE that he shoves it right back in the media’s face.

But Trump has been left of center for his whole life until the last two years. That needs to concern us all.

Well they don’t understand how Rush operates. Rush knows who listens to him. It is a majority mixture of Trump and Cruz supporters. He really gives both of these candidates a pretty fair shake.

Yes I think Rush is OK with either Trump or Cruz but he never endorses. So he will try to play neutral.

And another thing, Cruzers don’t seemed to realize that Trump is the man who can make it possible in the future to make things happen for him. Cruz is a young guy who could be around in politics for the next quarter century.

From the article: Monmouth surveyed 385 Republican and Republican-leaning voters by telephone from December 10-13 for the poll, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

While Trump's lead is well beyond the margin of error, I'm not sure anyone needs to get too worked up over a poll of a few hundred "Republicans" nationwide.
