Dues money isn’t used for political purposes. It’s better to donate to NRA Institute for Legislative Action which is where the money will do the most good in the current situation.

I just received my 2015 Membership card last week and it included a refer a friend offer on life membership. I believe it was for $250 Just have any of your friends with a life membership call for you.

If you can afford both sets of dues annually, I'd recommend putting any additional money into GOA instead of upgrading NRA. As I see it, the role of GOA (and of JPFO) is to advocate positions that make the NRA look reasonable.
